Beautiful quiet pocket of NorfolkI stayed at Great Dane with my 7 year old son on a visit from Australia. We came across the Inn by accident as I'd neglected to book ahead and made a random online selection, fortunately this was a fortuitous oversight as the Great Dane is quite lovely. Although identified as an Inn it isn't really, it does have a (extremely well stocked) bar and it is open to the public but we didn't see any walk in customers, which is just as well as the lounge is very small for a pub. The accommodation was good, comfortable beds, good pillows and very well appointed bathrooms with good showers. Breakfast was more than adequate with a choice of fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, toast, spreads, cheese and croissant, a good selection of tea and good quality cafetiere coffee. Cooked breakfast was an option and the Inn also boasts an evening menu although we didn't experience either. Beachamwell itself is beautiful, the green opposite the Inn conjours up images quintessentially British Sunday afternoon village cricket matches, cucumber sandwiches and Nan's homemade lemonade, it really is quite picturesque, there's even one of Norfolk's famous round churches, which I'm lead to believe is one of the oldest in the area. The Inn is run by a husband and wife team who made us feel very welcome, Roger keeps a well stocked bar and although the wine choices were limited (as you'd expect in a small establishment) they were very well chosen. Happy to recommend Great Dane.

over bookedAfter getting a confirmation number. I got an e-mail the next day stating that my reservation has been cancelled. I called the property to be told that there had been a problem with the internet at the time of booking. So how did they know the names, dates & times of my booking. Easy to just say sorry and get off the phone

Great place to stayA very comfortable and accommodating stay in a rural location, we had an evening meal and as we were a group of 10 people they were very good and produced a mixed starter for us to share and then delicious main meals and deserts. We were able to enjoy a few drinks in the bar before our meal, there was a good selection of bottled real ale. The breakfast was very good with a good selection on a self service basis, we did all decide on the complementary breakfast rather than having the full English, but it was very tasty. Would definitely stay again. .

Very peaceful break in this little gem.....My wife and I have returned home today after a 5 night stay at this excellent bed and breakfast in a secluded village near to RAF Marham where we were visiting family. When I rang to make the booking, Carole the owner explained that they couldn't offer the normal service due to Covid-19 restrictions, this was absolutely no problem at all. Our room was unable to be fully serviced and we took (continental) breakfast in our room each morning which was delivered by a lovely chap, I'm assuming from other reviews this was Carole's husband Roger? We stayed in Room 4 in the annex, very well appointed and very quiet with a lovely view of the garden and each morning we were able to see Roger going to collect the freshly laid eggs from the hen run in the adjacent garden. Other guests have reviewed the facilities, comfy bed and large walk-in shower so I will only add that we were both very impressed with the first class service and "nothing too much trouble" attitude of our hosts. Each evening I sent a txt message to Carole to confirm what time we wanted breakfast, what was required and our requests included boiled eggs and a beautiful (and abundant) fresh fruit salad included with the toast, juice, cheeses and preserves. All left on a tray outside our room at exactly the time we requested. Carole has a great sense of humour as well and we were made to feel very much at home from the outset. The location of Great Danes, as has been described is in a very tranquil little village and is the ideal spot for a peaceful break to re-charge batteries. We were sad to leave this morning but hope to return in the near future, we're so pleased to have found such a great guest house and maybe next time we can enjoy an evening meal (the menu looked very good value with a nice choice of starters, mains and puddings). Many thanks to Carole and Roger for looking after us so well xx Highly recommended.
