  One night stay

  Stayed her en-route on a weeks walking holiday glad it was only one night No t/v or WIFI in room Very uncomfortable bed Breakfast had to be taken at Devonshire arms up the road service was good, porridge and toast average

  Didn't quite meet expectations

  Stayed for 2 nights as part of a Yorkshire tour. Generally satisfied with our stay but our shower room really tiny and the bed far too soft so we really did not sleep well. The 'king sized' bed was actually 2 singles pushed together so there was a gap in the middle and worryingly this was the the most comfortable bit!!! We had an executive room and had a fridge so should have had fresh milk but we didn't. A big fuss is made of the Molten Brown toiletries and I read it is possible to buy at a discount. However I did make enquiries and was told I'd be given a list of available products but this wasn't followed up. Also disappointed that there was no body lotion - shower gel (in a battered, much recycled bottle), hand wash and hand cream were supplied. The hotel appears to be managed by the nearby Devonshire. Breakfast was served at the Devonshire due to lack of social distancing availability in their own dining room. On our first morning my breakfast was served with items I'd requested be left off (due to allergy) and the waitress was quite rude and implied I'd not made the request. I had to wait while a new breakfast was cooked but when it arrived it was obvious the poached egg had just been left waiting and was absolutely rock hard. On our second breakfast we were seated in the pub area rather than dining room. Breakfast was good but towards the end someone started sweeping up the floor around us and there were clouds of dust and hair (looked like dog hair) swirling around which completely put me off the remainder of my breakfast.

  A great three night stay

  Another great stay for three nights as always the room was playing with plenty of tea coffee water and lotteries it in the shower and the staff were accommodating and was CV 19 compliant the menu as always was good food excellent and the staff looked after us very well will be coming back as I enjoy your visit very much

  Needs updating

  Check in was prompt. We got a message asking for arrival time and a mobile to contact We werent made aware prior to arrival that breakfast was in the pub around the corner. We were a little miffed, but it was a good breakfast with great service The room wasnt great. The furniture was dated and chipped. It could have been cleaner. It was cramped and in need of a general overhaul . The DVD player had wires hanging out back and didnt work. Im sure if we reported it. The issues would be resolved. There were a lot of early risers. The front door banged from 5:45 am The location and views were phenomenal. The issues we had will be resolved I am sure once it has been purchased and has the TLC It deserves. None of the issues we had are down to the current management team. They were more than professional under difficult circumstances.

  Suberb black pudding

  Prompt check in, by the young lady! Lovely room, big comfy bed with quality bedding, towels & toiletries. Spacious bathroom, everything spotlessly clean. Tasty breakfast, with I must say, the best black pudding ever! Will stay again.
