  Buen Hotel

  Buen hotel, piezas muy comodas y amplias, falto el aire acondicionado, tiene una linda terraza donde se puede disfrutar de un buen desayuno y una linda vista al valle, la atención es calida y de Buena calidad, muy recommendable.

  Horrible, unforgivable conduct of staff. Cruel and evil. Please avoid this place if you can.

  This is my story. Read it and make up your own mind. Please see the photo of the message I received from management below. This review contains no rating on the rooms or other amenities as our agreed contract to experience the facilities was dishonoured by this hotel. I booked and paid 588 Euros 4 months ago for a 2 day stay. They held my funds for 4 months and then I received an email from Ms Wibke --, stating that they had an 'unforeseeable booking situation' where they did 'not have the required amount of rooms'. They offered to refund me or book me at the Mercure. I rang the Sonnenbichl from Australia. I said I did not want to stay at the Mercure. I was most disappointed and found the breach of contract dishonourable. Having no other option, I accepted a preferred alternative- the Dorint Hotel- what else could I do? However, the rates they offered for the Dorint exceeded those advertised on Booking.com. "Don't worry" they said, "we will pay you back the difference". "Its booked out in Garmisch" they said, "thats why the rates are higher than usual." This apparently makes it ok for the Sonnenbichl to charge me the going rate. They hold on to my money whilst Garmisch gets progressively booked out and then they charge me more for their incompetence. It gets worse. Days and days pass and I hear nothing. I email the Sonnenbichl with no reply. I ring booking.com explaining the situation. They ring the Sonnenbichl hotel on my behalf. The hotel say they don't have my email address. But Ms -- from hotel operations at the Sonnenbichl hotel does (see photo). Sonnenbichl say that they booked me at the Dorint Hotel already but they couldn't send me confirmation. But, how much did they pay for the room on my behalf? Where is my confirmation? What about my refund for the difference? What about compensation for breach of contract, several phone calls, unanswered emails from the Sonnenbichl, and the stress? Hotel Sonnenbichl advise Booking.com that my refund of the difference, a sum of 110 Euro, will be given to me when I arrive at the Dorint Hotel in 6 weeks, and will be given to me by the staff there. I am given no written confirmation of this arrangement. Is a staff member at the Dorint hotel to take my word for this when I arrive? I don't accept this and request an immediate refund. Booking.com advise that the hotel does not answer their calls. There is no offer of compensation from Ms --. The hotel does not have the courtesy to reply to me nor to call me. This saga is outlined here to inform well meaning guests, those like us, who is good faith commit a lot of time and effort to make long trips to visit historical sites before we grow too old. I hope it has helped someone avoid the horrible stress we have suffered by hotel Sonnenbichl staff at Garmisch.

  Book alternative Hotel, just in case...

  I booked and paid room on Oct 2016 (seven months in advance)! The booking and payment was confirmed. In May 2017 I received message from Hotel that my recervation is cancelled and that I need to move into other hotel... It seems that even early booking and payment in advance is no guarantee you are actually going to stay in the Grand Sonnenbichl Hotel...

  Fantastic lodging in Garmisch Partenkirchen!

  We truly enjoys our stay at Hotel Sonnenbichl. The hotel is situated at the base on Garmisch Partenkirchen with spectacular views of the Alps. The hotel has charming casual restaurants and fine dining too. The hotel bar (The Peacock Gin & Co) was cozy and charming and the breakfast was first rate, not to mention the service by hotel staff. We had a lovely room that faced the Alps. We will definitely stay here again. We loved Garmisch Partenkirchen and the surrounding area.

  Poor hotel

  Stayed there once and it was awful. Didn't like the service or the food. I thought the rooms were damp and the beds were not particularly comfortable. Much better rooms elsewhere for better value in my opinion.
