Very good hotel near the airportLocation-wise, this hotel is near the airport but quite far from the city and hence any food/shopping, so it's more appropriate for transits. The outside appearance is not overly impressive, but the rooms are good, clean, and spacious. The staff are quite friendly and helpful, although they speak limited English. The breakfast is surprisingly good. I was used to the horrible western/international breakfast in most Chinese hotels, so this is a very pleasant surprise indeed.

best value in the areaas i stay in the area frequently, i tested nearly every hotel in the area. this chinese managed non-chain hotel just gives the best value for money in the area. the rooms are very spaciuos and clean . i would say a decent 4 star level service and experience all after all. the breakfast is chinese oriented but actually really nice also for westerners. i can't say anything about the receptions english level - but i had no problems at all at this hotel and got a really nice service there.

FInd somewhere better! The rooms are very spacious and relatively clean - no denying. But the breakfast is THE WORST I've EVER seen for a breakfast buffet. I travel all through China for work and stay at many hotels, but this breakfast buffet is disgraceful. Being "Chinese style" does not excuse lazy & incompetent cooks/chefs. Food is spilt all about the benches, most gone cold because the heat beneath has been allowed to go out or off, many dishes empty and not bothered to be replenished.... the hygiene? Take a guess! There was no bread for the toaster, so I asked for some. The "chef" walked away, no response. So I waited 10 mins and asked another waiter. He left and came back to tell me there is no bread left (at 7.30 am). Then 5 mins later some bread came out & re-stocked. Later I saw a guest place some bread in the toaster. After it was toasted I saw the maitre'd come over and pull it out with his fingers. he looked around, sniffed it (not kidding!), took some butter and walked behind the kitchen & out of site with it. The rooms are quite clean, I must say. The air-conditioning barely works & there are 3 x English TV channels: Star Movies, CNN ("see again") and NewsAsia. That's it. So get used to watching the news re-runs and the same movies over and over again. There is NOTHING outside the hotel. You are in an industrial area. Massive buildings everywhere to be seen through thte smog & pollution only. Go an extra 8-10 kms into the city for your own sanity and hygiene.

Slightly DisappointedI often stay at the Grand SH in Guiyang (love that hotel) so thought I'd try this location out. Room was clean, bed typically hard, breakfast pretty lame. Really nothing to rave about. That said- you get what you pay for. Considering the price, it's adequate.

Very good serviceWe arrived in the evening, both of us exhausted. Our room was large, spacious and appeared clean. We immediately put the kettle on to have a hot drink, there were only two black tea bags, no coffee, or milk. My husband went to the front desk and the staff could not find any milk in the hotel, but they sent someone to a shop to obtain it for us. We had a delicious Chinese dinner on the 2nd floor and the staff were so attentive and made us feel at home. We had breakfast included in our package, but the kitchen opens at 0630 and we had to leave at 0600. We asked the young man at the front desk to book a taxi for us for the next morning. When we arrived in the foyer at O600 a limousine driver was waiting for us and treated us so respectfully, we were driven to the airport in the comfort of a limousine. We only asked for a taxi, so we were a little confused but on arrival when my husband went to pay the driver he said it was complimentary, he wouldn't even take a tip. We can only deduce that as we couldn't eat breakfast they organized that transport for us. We would like to thank the young man at the front desk for this much appreciated service. We are from Australia.
