    Irrespetuosos.

Overall a pleasant stay at Grand Park Lara.

We were initially skeptical going to this hotel after reading so many negative reviews on here, however I found this hotel to be perfect for what we were wanting! Also when I was looking through reviews, there were a lot of questions I still had so I have tried to include answers to the questions. Hotel We arrived at the hotel and immediately got our temperatures taken. Check in was really easy and quick, and we were quickly taken up to our rooms. I've included information on the rooms below. You had to pay 2 per day to hire the safe and we recommend getting it sorted straight away as we waited until the next day as we arrived really late and we waited over an hour for someone to come and sort it. We were given a small pamphlet which showed us where everything was, including the kids clubs and each different food section. I've discussed food below also! Loungers around the pool were all distanced and really easy to get, some mornings we wouldn't be ready until 10am and we could still get a lounger where we wanted which was great. The pools were never too busy, and the main pool is a consistent height throughout. There are 4 pools, 1 main, 1 kids, 1 pool with slides and 1 other smaller main pool at the other end of the hotel. There are a few market shops in the resort, one souvenir, a lingerie shop, pool toys shop and a spice shop. All things that cost in the hotel prefer you to pay by Euro. Most places in Lara prefer payment by Euro, however if you only have Lira they will translate to Lira, I would recommend pay Lira where possible as you usually get a better deal. In regards of Lara, there is not much around apart from a few shops. There's also a onsite spa which offer a Turkish bath. We both got this on day 1 as they recommend getting it earlier before you're more likely to burn as it could hurt getting one done when you're burnt. We paid 65 (haggled the price) and we both highly highly recommend getting a Turkish bath! The entertainment was basic, but again typical all inclusive entertainment. Most nights had a dance / acrobatic group on at 9:30pm, then live music from 10:15pm onwards. There was also a DJ party every Friday. Room We initially booked a standard room, however when we arrived to the hotel we were immediately asked if we wanted to upgrade to a family room. The differences between standard and family is an additional room (great if you struggle to sleep due to a snoring partner!) and a balcony! The cost of this was £10 per night, so we paid for the upgrade! Things to note in the room: they provide soap, shampoo and conditioner, a few clothes hangers, bottles of water and a small fridge. They don't however provide a kettle, which is quite strange, however the 24 hour restaurants have coffee and tea if you need one before breakfast opens. Food & Drinks We had all inclusive whilst here, and it was quite pleasant. Firstly, cocktails were included which for me personally, was amazing! All spirits are included also. In regards of food, you have your main restaurant, a patisserie and the 24 hours restaurant. The first day we are at the main restaurant and we're best pleased as they would not listen to what you wanted, so you would come away with a plate knowing you weren't going to be eating much off it. Day 2 onwards we are at the 24 hour restaurant down the other end as the food was a lot more appealing and they listened to what you wanted. The food in a morning was mostly fried, poached or scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, tomatoes, and small crusty buns. There was a salad bar too. Tea offered different stuff every night, some of the food they had was; meatballs, chips, lasagne, pasta, grilled fish, grilled chicken, kofta, turkey skewered, roast potatoes, meatloaf, potato croquettes and a lot more! It's your typical all inclusive, however some people need to note you get what you pay for as I feel a lot of people reviewing this hotel are expecting Michelin chef 5 star food. We also never had an issue with food being cold in the 24 hour restaurant. A la Carte The hotel offers 3 different A la Carte's, being Italian on a Tuesday, Chinese on a Thursday and Bbq & Fish on a Saturday. We booked both Italian and Chinese and it did not disappoint! They cost us £10 per person per night, so £20 for both nights each. You also need to pre-book so I would recommend asking about them on your first or second night to ensure you get what you want. On the Italian night you got: bread, cheese board, bruschetta and Soup as your first course, then you had 3 choices for each course after. For starters we both went for mini pizza, then for main I went for the first choice (can't remember what it was called) but it was lovely! Whilst my partner had Milano styled schnitzel with tagliatelle. Then for desert you could either have tiramisu or panna cota. We both opted for panna cota. On the Chinese night (I've attached a picture of the menu) you got: sushi and soup for first course, I then opted for noodles and vegetables and my partner got sautéed chicken in filo pastry. Then for main I got duck with paprika sauce and my partner got breaded fish with satay sauce. Finally for desert we got baked ice cream with chocolate sauce which was beautiful. Both A la Carte's were completely worth it! Beach The beach was great! There is a main road between the resort and beach which you need to cross, however it has traffic lights so isn't hard to do. To get to the beach you have to go slightly left then down a straight road, it is a short walk. There is also a shuttle bus that runs frequently if you have kids, baggage or simply can't be bothered to walk. They have a beach bar and snack bar which is included in the all inclusive package, so cocktails, spirits and water are available. The food consists of: toasties, fries and cheeseburgers each day. It really wasn't difficult to get a lounger for us, however this could be due to Covid and going towards the end of the summer season. The sand is slightly gritty but not bad at all. Trips we did We travelled to Antalya old town via bus. The bus picks you up from outside of the hotel quite frequently. We didn't purchase a travel card, and don't let the drivers make you buy one as it costs 200 lira (around £20). This would be beneficial if you were to use the bus often, but for a few trips just get singles each time. For me and my partner to get to Antalya it cost 10 lira total, equivalent to 50 pence each 1 way. Whilst at Antalya we visited the marina and the old streets, we looked at the main tourist square, however it was so busy we didn't bother to go up it very far before turning back around. Definitely recommend visiting if you're going to Antalya. At the hotel and beach, they have a water sports stall which I would recommend to go and look at. Out of all activities we chose the boat trip. It is 35 per person and lasts for around 1 and a half hours. You go in a maximum group of 9 in a speedboat, along to Düden waterfalls and also visit some caves. You need to book 1 day in advance for this and they have 2 time slots, 11am & 2pm. If you are anything like us, we love a good photo opportunity! This being said, we visited the waterfalls again but this time from land to watch the sunrise. The first bus out of Lara is at 6:15am which got us to Düden within 15 minutes. There is a part of the land that sticks out past the waterfalls allowing you to look at the waterfalls better! Also here, is a beautiful park filled with friendly stray dogs and cats, cafes and really cute places to sit. Covid You have to wear your masks when walking around the streets, however you will probably find no one does unless you're going into a shop. Some places take your temperature upon arrival and everywhere has hand sanitiser out for you. You will get some rude people that will barge you out of the way, or disregard the mask rule but most do comply with the rules. Being in Turkey felt much safer than the UK! Overall, me and my partner both loved this hotel and would gladly stay again if we were to travel to Lara, Antalya again.

    Lovely hotel

I woud rate this hotel as a really good 3 star hotel and not a 4 star Staff were a credit to the hotel and were amazing, from the cleaners, to the managers. Best part of our visit. Due to Covid the buffet in the resteraunt was not available , But a member of staff would walk round with you and you just pointed to what you wanted. Only bad point was that the food was never very warm (wifes gripe, not mine) We were in block F and it was right next to the24hour resteraunt and the small pool which suited us. Pool towels are available. Also try the beach, first time the sea has been warmer than the pool, Bottom line is if you wish 5 star, pay for it.
