Mediterraneo in FlorenceOverall good hotel. Not convenient to the train station or other areas. Good view of the river if you get a riverside room. Breakfast is very good with lots of choices.' Front desk is very helpful and knowledgeable about area.

visit to sea side pugliagreat view on front side hotel to sea and village, parking on back side hotel via back entrance. basic room with small fridge but no water cooker; wifi available, but low speed. bathroom in room is very small but has shower, sink and toilet. airco capacity is low, hard to get temperature in room down. staff is very friendly. access to beach is 10 min down multiple steps in pool or beach club against payment - beach club is based on the rocks with sun beds and parasols over various levels. swimming is possible in natural basis in sea; shower avail. (hotel gives discount voucher) / hotel has elevators and roof terrace with nice view. village is very small and in pre season lots of restaurants and bars are still closed. would not want to stay here more than 2 days. next bigger city is Otranto, or further away, Lecce.

Ok hotelDated hotel but was fine to stay in. Showers were a little small and ran cold quickly. Another couples room smelled a little of damp but hotel staff nice and great location in town. Nice to sit out in front of the hotel with a drink.

Bait and switchWe arrived as scheduled and they told us our room "had a problem" so we were re-booked at an alternate hotel of equal value. They offered no explanation even though we had booked it several months in advance. They paid for a taxi to take us to a new hotel which placed very small room where several things were not working. The staff was not helpful or even polite. I would not recommend this place

4*? Not in a million years! If ever a hotel was inappropriately named then this is it. And its a complete mystery as to how it has been rated 4 star. Or maybe not. If the star rating is based on facilities then it might be understandable.....except the facilities here are not as translated on their website. Our beaches are certainly not their beaches - they require entrance fee payable. Same with the pool - the implication that this hotel has its own on their and various Puglia websites - particularly hotels-Apulia dot com - is completely erroneous. Theres a thermal pool down below the hotel for which one can pay an entry fee. So their 4* rating relates to what exactly? We couldnt work it out. As were on a walking tour of Salento, wed been boooked into all 7 of our hotels on the basis of facilities offered.... and our tour operator was clear with us about this hotels own beaches and pool. We raised this with the receptionist, who had apparently translated the website into English herself; she was more interested in arguing with us than accepting the misrepresentation demonstrated in their website. She did suggest that they have a partnership with the beach people and the thermal pool operator...though this has been terminated due to Covid. (When she showed us the website then it did state that there is a (very small) discount to use the sulphurous pool, which she defended despite its irrelevance as they had built the website last year. Given Covid restrictions have been around since March 2020 and its now September 2020 then it seems inexcusable that this claim around discount has not been removed in the intervening period - a good website has a decent content management system which ought to allow for instant amendments.) Reading the above you might be tempted to believe were just hard to please and serial complainers. Nothing could be further from the truth. As justification, weve now been on 5 walking tours organised by New Experience Travel, so have stayed in almost 35 hotels in that time just in those trips (always choosing the upgrade to luxury hotels), and this is the first one weve felt so underwhelmed by, and moved to review negatively - both the obvious disingenuity of their claims regarding facilities but also the attitude of the reception staff when this was pointed out led to genuine disappointment. As for the rest of the hotel, faded opulence would best describe it. Our room (401 - dont accept it) was in an echoey corridor by the lift, disturbed by all & sundry conversing loudly as they stood waiting for said lift to arrive. It had no air conditioning (despite claims that rooms have aircon), broken fittings, a bathroom light that didnt work, dirt and leftovers from a July 17th guest on top of the mirror, a tiny shower with ill-fitting screen (we flooded the bathroom twice in our one-night stay) and the worlds noisiest mini-fridge, masquerading as a mini-bar though devoid of any refreshments (we unplugged it in order to attain some peace & quiet). Wed been booked half-board but eschewed dinner when we saw the featureless and characterless massive dining room, so cant comment on quality of the food. We are at the pizzeria on the terrace opposite....which was excellent. Breakfast was ok but the occasion, like the hotel, lacked any atmosphere. Given the Grand Hotel Mediterraneos prime location, it ought to be a guaranteed high class friendly hotel, rather than choosing to mislead through its website. We wont be back, and obviously will pass the feedback to our tour operator - were apparently the first guests on this new (for them) walking tour, so suggest there may be an alternative hotel chosen in Santa Cesarea Terme for those who might follow us.
