  Excellent location

  Spent 2 nights here while travelling through to Amsterdam. The hotel is in a great location, easy walking to the caves, the castle ruins and the myriad of restaurants and bars which line the quaint cobblestone streets. Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable, even had air-con. The bathroom facilities were fine, although it was shower over bath which I found awkward getting in and out of, being an older person. No hand rail at all. Tea and coffee were not supplied in the room and we weren't advised if it was available elsewhere in the hotel. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, with a couple of hot dishes supplied. I can't see us ever returning to Valkenburg but if we did would be happy to stay there again. We actually got taxis each way from Masstricht station which cost about 50 so not too expensive.

  Andre Rieu concert

  We have just returned from our trip to Holland to see Andre Rieu in Maastricht, but we decided to stay in Valkenburg. What a great decision that was, the hotel is in a great location for food, drink and all the local attractions. Our room was modern and spacious. Although we didn't eat in the hotel at night, the breakfast buffet was very good, and all the staff were excellent. On our last day there was a performance by a 1940's "army" band c/w vehicles in one of the squares, we were told there will be a larger event next September. There is building work being carried out to the main square in front of the hotel, but this didn't hinder us at all, and we have decided to return next year to see it completed.

  Perfect location

  We spent last weekend here with a group of friends from the UK. We had previously stayed at a nearby hotel which was very poor. This was such a contrast. Rooms were clean and spacious. Bathrooms spotless. Food was excellent. My only negative comment would be that some of the evening restaurant waiting staff were rather glum! I would definitely stay again if returning to Valkenburg. The hotel is in a central location and perfect for sightseeing

  Great hotel in a new Classic style

  I chose this hotel to spend the night with my colleagues on our casual business outing in the city of Valkenburg. We had a great time. The rooms and public areas of this Classic family owned hotel are nice and clean. The extended breakfast buffet was tasteful. The staff was friendly and made our stay as enjoyable as possible. A great new feature is their newly renovated lobby area and hotel bar. A must visit if you like Classic hotels.

  Mediocre at best

  Check in and out was easy and fast. No hustle, everything as advertised and honest. I don't understand why this hotel has good reviews for food. The breakfasts were mediocre at best. No variety at all. It was the same omelette, boiled eggs, bacon, and some sliced meat and cheese. There was also bread, jam, cereal, some yoghurt and cut fruit. But no fresh vegetables or salads at all, during all our stay. Coffee was really bad too. Food was so disappointing we wanted to go to the restaurant instead. Staff - staff would open the doors and come to our room WITHOUT knocking, WITHOUT us asking for them to come. They would just open the door, come in and ask if we had anything from the mini bar. What?! No "excuse me, is anyone here? Can we come in?", no "sorry but we were doing some checks and wondered if it was you who needed...", nothing. And that happened SEVERAL TIMES during our stay. We didn't feel like we had privacy at all, this had never happened in a hotel before. Who comes to a room without knocking?! That is very unprofessional and unacceptable.
