AVOID, AVOID, AVOIDThis hotel and I have been to many is by far the worst I have ever stayed in so bad was the hotel that if I'd had the opportunity leave I would have. Unfortunately colleagues were staying in the area and this was the last place we could get rooms so that was the reason we had to stay here, but it was almost unbearable. Reception was empty, by empty I mean by having no glasses drink or food - we were told we could have something but at their sister hotel 500 m up the road. We had also been telephoned earlier in the day and told we could have not have breakfast here but could have it in the hotel 500 m up the road also! It was only when we arrived at the sister hotel to have some breakfast and told this will be an additional £10 normally but £5 to us as we had been told it was included in the price!! The hotel itself is a little bit creepy as after we had checked in and paid and seen the awful rooms - there was no one about even the reception simply had a sign on it saying this hotel is closed. The whole place was run down and very dated and to be honest should not even be open as a hotel - but the room which we had been allocated was by far the worst I have ever been offered in a hotel, and for the ridicules price of £85!!! Shockingly if we had paid £10 for the breakfast it would have been a total of £95!! The photos I will attach do not give justice to how bad this place was and the dead spiders and marks on the carpet, stains on the walls and worst the stained mattress I cannot believe this could be appetising on websites such as Booking.com. I should have realised when there was no pictures posted on their website shared with the interior that we should have stayed away but that was not the case we have left today however I will not be returning ever!!

Poor HotelI stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on a business trip. Well it's awful . The doors getting in are a nightmare. The reception area is a dump. The room was dirty and horrible. All it would take is a bit of basic DIY and paint and new carpets etc and to clean it better and it could be nice. It's an embarrassment to Kenilworth

Worst hotel everDON'T STAY HERE! No hot water, wet towels, an iron that's dangerous to use, and waiting 20mins at the front door to be allowed to check in. Phoning reception for help gets you nowhere; they express sympathy and then do nothing at all.

Disgusting and dirty!I booked the Grand Hotel for my husband's birthday as we had a table booked at the nearby Cross restaurant in Kenilworth. We arrived at the hotel early afternoon expecting to check in and found the premises to be locked up. We rang a telephone number on the door, spoke to a very confused person who didn't seem to understand our predicament! A gentleman then turned up and let himself in, he didn't appear to be the hotel staff, in fact we had no idea who he was! We then spent the next 10 minutes trying to pay as the man who let us in had no clue how to work the pdq machine. We finally made it up to our room on the top floor. I can honestly say I have never stayed in a hotel room as dirty as this! The room smelt damp and felt cold, the carpet was a disgrace, it had clearly never seen a hoover or clean in its life! There were several stains and debris on the floor, it was so bad myself and my husband kept our socks on! The bathroom, well that left a lot to be desired also, the shower was useless, a weak trickle of water barely enough to wash with let alone rinse your hair. The hotel was very run down and everywhere smelt like damp mothballs. In fact it felt as though the people 'running' it had just 'turned up' to help out for a bit! Lesson learnt, wish I had booked the holiday inn as at least you know what you are getting, this place should come with a health warning and ultimately shut down!

Appalling. This hotel is many many things, Grand is not one of them. My wife and I stayed on a Saturday night. The doors were locked when we arrived mid-afternoon, and whilst trying to ring someone to let us in, a gentleman who said he worked next door at a restaurant and sometimes helps out at the hotel arrive behind us, asked what we were doing, as if the luggage wasnt enough of a clue, and let us through the door. He proceeded to take payment after several attempts to make the PDQ terminal work, and we were allocated a room on the top floor. Well, the room was damp and filthy dirty, the carpets were atrocious and the bedding dubious at best. The shower was useless, I struggled to get wet. I could go on - I suspect this is the same room as somebody below has reviewed, if I only wed known! This is a terrible, terrible hotel, theres no reason to stay here - it should be condemned or closed down, where the certificates in the hallway are from is anybodys guess. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
