  Comfortable stay

  Had an unscheduled 2 night stop at hotel due to vehicle problems - the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The pizza restaurant excellent. The area is well known for hunting so some of the decor, although not to everyone's taste, was unsurprising. It had an eclectic mix of decor. It has an underground garage, available at a small extra charge.

  Mixed feelings

  The three star rating doesnt really convey our feelings which were strongly positive in some ways and negative in others. On the plus side there was secure parking. There was old-fashioned, friendly service, with staff always available. The hotel is old and had a historic atmosphere which pleased us. We didnt mind the hunting trophies as this is typical of the region. We were given a spacious room with windows that opened fully. The room and halls had displays of interesting posters for which Chaumont is famous. The hotel has character. We could relax in the bar with generous bowls of olives and nuts and reasonably priced drinks. The Pizzeria was excellent. The hotel is in a good, central location near the old town. It was open on a Sunday, unlike other places. On the downside the bed was awful, too narrow and too short. Im only five foot six and my feet were over the edge. Both mattress and pillows were hard. There was no kettle or tea-making facilities in the room. Many French hotels now offer this. There was a toilet smell due to poor ventilation, impossible to get rid of even with window open. The price was reasonable.

  Interesting decor. Very retro!

  Nice helpful staff. Quiet location despite the train station being only across the road. Located in a nice town with some nice bars and patisserie's. Fabulous viaduct, definitely worth the short walk to discover.

  A night in Chaumont

  I stayed in the hotel for first time. The location is excellent and is in front of train station. The hotel lobby is good looking. Problem lies in the communication as there is difficult to communicate in English. Rooms are small especially the toilets of standard rooms. Breakfast is standard. I will say it as 2 and half star.

  Great location near station spacious rooms

  For central no frills accommodation this hotel ticks the box. With everything you need for a quick stopover. Breakfast is possible but wasnt included with our tariff. Check in was open 24/7. Chaumont is a beautiful town set one the heart of champagne country.
