  Like a honeymoon!

  What a treat to be able to spend two nights at Grand Dedale. We felt like young honeymooners all over again. The initial impression is one of luxury and comfort and 'just make yourselves at home'. The staff were all so professional and helpful with nothing too much for them. We did the River and Vineyard walks as well as a delightful hike up to Baine's Pass before breakfast. Angelo was so friendly and fascinating about the area and the challenges of keeping going during the Covid restrictions. Our whole stay was a real treat for us and we would thoroughly recommend a visit.

  Magical 20 year anniversary weekend!

  We had a magical weekend at Doolhof's Grand Dedale. We have always loved this little wine farm, and wanted to stay at the guest house. Our 20th wedding anniversary seemed the perfect opportunity. We naturally chose the honeymoon cottage which is a beautiful double volume converted chapel I think. The views are magnificent, and the valley is quiet and peaceful. It was the perfect opportunity to reconnect after a particular trying COVID year! The guest house is immaculate and stylish. Angelo was a treat, and even took my husband mountain biking on some trails he didn't know. I loved the walks. The food was sublime. The staff were lovely. Thank you Grand Dedale for a wonderful anniversary celebration.

  Fantastic and magical weekend

  We visited Grand Dedale for our 40th wedding anniversary celebration, it was our first time there and we were very surprised by the quality of the place and the service. The rooms are exquisitely decorated, the food is excellent and the people are friendly and helpful. It has everything you need right there to enjoy and beautiful walks and views close by. We really hope we can return in the not too distant future.

  Understated elegance

  My husband and I enjoyed a 2 day stay at Grand Dedale. Angelo offers as warm a welcome as was the temperature. After travelling through Wellington, we continued along the beautiful valley till we reached Doolhof Wine Estate. The hotel is beautifully laid out with a wide wrap around stoep where we enjoyed all our meals. The meals were all very tasty and they catered well for my vegetarian diet, as well as my husbands keto diet. The dinner menu's were presented each morning so you could specify if any of the courses or ingredients weren't to your liking. We did a 10km walk one morning, but preferred the indigenous vegetation on the bains kloof side of the valley (that the hotel is situated on), as the other side was mainly blue gum and not very exciting. Angelo is an enthusiastic mountain biker and took my husband out the other morning to explore a trail he hadn't yet done. The hotel is elegant and the room that we stayed in was very pretty. We used the mini plunger with fresh ground coffee when we work up early for our walk as the restaurant wasn't open yet. I can also recommend the massage therapists - they come in from Stellenbosch, as both massages were very good. The wine tasting at Doolhof which is just a few 100 meters away was another fun addition to the day. The hotel definitely had more of an adult feel so wouldn't recommend coming with young children but for a relaxing time away with your partner or friends, it was really lovely.
