Impressive looking but lacking in serviceI stayed at the Grand Chu hotel for a week, and had nothing but trouble with their front desk. On my first night, I fell on some uneven pavement outside the hotel property and hobbled back to desk. I showed them my bleeding and swollen knee, and showed them chinese symbol for "Ice". They told me that they had no ice for rooms. Five restaurants and bars, and no ice? I told them again (using translation device) "Hurt" "Knee" "ice" and they grudgingly said they would deliver. After waiting for 30 mins, I called downstairs and they said it would be delivered "soon". Never came. Bed was rock hard and knee was throbbing, so I slept poorly. Next day my client was horrified that they didn't deliver, and called to complain. They offered to move me to a 'deluxe' room. This meant a rock hard bed AND a sitting room. This room faced the 8 lane road outside and was very noisy. I chose to sleep on sofa of living room as it was softer and room was quieter... until the disco, 2 floors below, started up at 10 pm. Again, another sleepless night. Finally on third move, to top floor and away from street, I was able to get a decent night's sleep (ask for 2 extra comforters and put these on top of the mattress to approximate a 'stiff' bed...) They are on major east-west bus lines so if you want to go to Luo Hu or to Shekou, you are equidistant between them; however, I found their service to be so poor that I refuse to stay there again. Ok but with some problemsThe place is OK although certainly of lower standards than what it claims. It can be difficult to make yourself understood if you don't speak Mandarin and the rooms could use a renovation....and so do the pipes that give out orange water filed with flakes of rusted iron. The wifi is free but very slow. Based on what I head from other people in the same area of Shenzhen, you can find better at the same price range.

Not the Chutian, but the Grandchu Hotel at this addressClose to Coco Park and the metro station called Shopping Park, and not far from Shekou Port and the Huanggang checkpoint. Theme parks Window on the World and Splendours of China half a dozen metro stops away. Getting to Shopping Park is only practicable by taxi (11RMB). Breakfast (38RMB if not included) has cereal, coffee and toast options as well as rice noodles, dumplings etc. Air conditioning required staff attention, and was impossible to fine tune. Fridge. The in-bath shower flooded the bathroom and soaked the bedside carpet by dint of a leak probably from the bath drainage. Convenience store and ATM close to the hotel at rear. The exterior is impressive, but the interior of the hotel is not as good as you might expect. Due for refurbishment, but not expensive.

Small room but clean HotelGrand Chu is not the top hotel in shenzhen. But it is good enough to stay. Room is so small but very clean. And design of the room is good. Bathroom is beautiful. But there is not free-toothbrush for you. If you want to clean your teeth, Pay money to buy toothbrush :D. Light in room is so great. But my room doesnt have a window. The hotel is not near the metro. But It is easy to catch taxi to go anywhere. If you go around the hotel, you can find a lot of chinese street foods, chinese fruites and services. Ps: Reception can talk english. But It is difficult to understand what he is saying.

Good for a business stayStayed for 5 nights on business. The hotel is showing age, rooms too. However, the bathrooms seem to be recently refurbished. Hotel is clean. However, there was a bit of a cigarette smell on the first day in the room. There is amneties to make tea in the room but not milk tea or coffee. It is Chinese style tea. Toothpasete, showergel, dail towels etc are available, along with a safe. The staff is friendly. However, the understanding in English is not the best. It is good if you can get a Chinese friend to at least write down the basic things for you. Wifi available for both laptops and mobiles. To sign in, you need the We-chat app for the phone. I had a problem with the laptop but the staff were extremely helpful and sorted it out for me. As expected in China, no access to Google, Whatsapp, Facebook etc. The breakfast buffet is good. Mostly Eastern cuisine but there is toast, pastries, serials, fruits, eggs and coffee too. One has to get a ticket from the concierge desk and hand over to the restaurant. There is a convenient store within the hotel itself, so if you are too lazy to go out for dinner, can get some noodles made there. About 3.5 km from the Futian checkpoint (Lo Wu from Hong Kong). About 1.2 km from the convention and exhibition center but it is a pleasant walk.
