  Perfect for the long term stay

  I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is staying long term for business or leisure. In fact, I would recommend this hotel to anybody, period! Good Sun is a great service apartment/hotel. The ratings say 4 star, but you could have fooled me. The accomodations and service are comparable to a 5 star hotel. The best part of this hotel has got to be the rooms. Each room is nicely furnished with Ikea furniture, a Galanz microwave, a LARGE Haier refrigerator (not stuffed with a bunch of useless snacks and drinks), an LG washing machine, and even a dryer. On top of that you also get a small dining area with sink and stove. The rooms are very clean and very quiet. The staff were also very courteous. The security guard even hailed a cab for us a on a rainy day, and then loaned us an umbrella. However, there are 2 down sides to staying here. 1. There is no breakfast buffet 2. It's a little further away from the main shopping area, Tianyi Square (about 15 mins. by taxi) If, you don't mind those 2 negatives then Good Sun is a definite must stay!

  incompetent and unfriendly staff, attention with your credit card!

  hotel reception is not really able to use credit cards for booking and pay and produced a big mess with credit cards bookings for deposit and pay at check-out. Big confusion and argument with the staff about credit card bookings leaves bad memories. They could not provide sufficient credit card bills. staff does not tell their names and can not be identified later when problems occur. Even manager does not want to be responsible and did not tell name. Value and service is bad for medium price.

  Good value, great idea, could easily be better...

  This was my second stay at the NingBo Good Sun apartments. The first time was in May last year. Both experiences were similar. The Good Sun apartments are, as the name says, APARTMENTS. Imagine an apartment building in a big city anywhere in the world. When you walk in the front door, instead of the doorman, there's a small reception area with two or three people doing check-in/out. I booked my room on eLong, so I didn't have to worry about any credit cards being misused as another poster had written. I gave them my name and passport and check-in was just like any other hotel. The Good Sun is otherwise an apartment building. It feels nothing like a hotel and more like staying at your aunt's apartment while she's out of town. On both of my stays I took a 2-bedroom apartment since I was traveling with a colleague. This room type is a nice size with a large living space, 4-person dining set, kitchenette, refrigerator and full bath (with a small washing machine, bonus.!) downstairs. Two bedrooms (one with en-suite bath) are upstairs. Overall, the apartment was clean, however the furnishings and decorations are definitely dated and in need of updating. Our couch had a cigarette hole and a few worn areas (not dirty really, just old and a bit worn). The bedrooms were also clean and the beds reasonable (not the usual stone slab hardness, but not US-style soft either... From my US perspective, I'd describe the beds as extra firm but not "hard"). The linens were very clean. One bedroom had a large desk, the other bedroom had an en-suite bath. There is no restaurant on premises, but restaurants, delivery and take out are available nearby. Be advised that if you reserve a room with breakfast included, you'll get a coupon for the local fast-food (Chinese food only) restaurant around the block (200M walk). The food was ok. Overall, I rate the Good Sun a solid 3 stars. But it could easily be a 4-star place if they updated the rooms. Having 2 bedrooms for less cost than a local 4-star full-service hotel makes the Good Sun a good value, but unless they do some updating, this is a one-night-only place to stay for me.
