    you can give more

Positive aspects: very good food, especially the Tuscan Buffet, excellent. The Spa is beautiful but the girls are too insistent, they dismiss the customers rather than attract them. The location is quiet, even too much, them around there is nothing, without a car you are lost. The garden and the outdoor pool are beautiful and not overcrowded, the cleanliness of the rooms and the facility are great. Less positive aspects: the rooms are spacious but really outdated, the bathrooms need a few more hooks, some areas of the Hotel need renovation. The worst thing is without any doubt the beach, the sun loungers and the umbrellas are so sticky that it seems to sit at the cinema, elbow to elbow. Crazy, I've never seen a thing like this before. From the third row, you can't even see the sea....

Excellent Service, Superb Room, Fantastic Food, Relaxing Holiday

We stayed for four nights as part of a 12 day trip to northern Italy. We had read mixed reviews so we booked directly with the hotel by telephone. My girlfriend explained that she was anxious about the cleanliness of the room. We spoke to an incredibly helpful person in the sales department who gave us a room upgrade and daily sunlounger/beach chairs at the private beach (5mins away by regular shuttle bus - we never waited more than 5 minutes) included in the half board price. Our initial impression as we first drove up was that the hotel was in need of renovation. However from within all of the areas which we experienced have been recently renovated to a very high standard. Our room was on the first floor (at the back of the building), which is the main entrance/reception level as you enter the hotel. The bar, spa and pool area are all one floor down from the reception and look out towards the rear of the hotel. Our room was very newly renovated, spotlessly clean and decorated simply in a modern style (white and grey). There was a large "wet-room" style bathroom with walk in shower, toilet and a separate intermediate room containing his and hers washbasins and mirror. We had a shaded balcony with table and chairs overlooking the pool area so that we could hear the relaxing live music from the bar in the evening. We also had air con. Overall we couldn't have been more pleased with the room. Food: We had half board, which at 12.50 per person per night (100 for 4 nights) was a bargain. Breakfast was buffet style with pretty much everything you could wish for (coffee, fruit, continental options, scrambled, egg, bacon, sausage, tomato etc.). Poached eggs, smoked salmon and various other options available as paid upgrades. Dinner was a mixture of buffet antipasta (phenomenally good) and dessert with waiter served first and second courses. The food was excellent. Water and wine were extra. Lunch was available from the beach bar and/or restaurant. Ca. 14 for a salad (very good and generous portions), 10-12 for a pizza + various snack/ice cream options. The beach area is a beautiful long white sandy beach with clear calm blue water which remains shallow enough to stand for at least 30-40m. Deep enough to swim from about 15-20m out. The beach is divided into various sections belonging to different hotels. There was an extremely helpful "Local Coach" who was present in the mornings and afternoon/evenings in the hotel reception area to give advice about the area and help arrange excursions and activities. We followed her advice to visit Cala Violina, voted one of Italy's most beautiful beaches and to arrange tennis. Several other options were available, including sailing and motor boat trips, horse riding, bike hire, wine tour etc. Cala Violina is about 45 minutes away (15minute drive + 30minute walk from the car park to the beach). The beach is located in a protected area of natural beauty, so it is not possible to park closer. The walk is about 2km and is a bit hilly. If you plan to visit this beach we recommend you take water and a maybe parasol to give you some sun protection on the beach when you get there. The beach was fairly busy when we arrived, but we still found enough space to relax and it was an enjoyable trip. There were two tennis courts within the hotel grounds. One hard court and one artificial grass court. Court hire was 20 per hour and was booked via the Tennis Coach. The spa facilities and gym were free to use for hotel guests. The spa was excellent with steam rooms, sauna, jacuzzi pool. Various beauty treatments, massages and yoga classes were available, but we didn't take advantage of any of these options. Initially we were slightly put off by the outward appearance of the hotel. However, once we were inside were very impressed with the overall facilities and the room was superb. We were most impressed by the incredibly helpful staff. Very relaxing enjoyable holiday.

    Big let down

The rooms were comfortable, we enjoyed a nice evening in the bar and restaurant and lovely sunset from the beach. In the morning we woke to no water in the room or anywhere in the hotel. These things happen and not necessarily the hotels fault. However, the way they dealt with the situation was appalling. No apology, no offer of bottled water or suggestions as to where to shower. And no sign of the manager. Consequently we were unable to use any of the Hotel facilities which we had looked forward to. To add insult to injury on check out I was asked to pay for the small bottles of water we used from the mini bar. This was begrudgingly waivered at my request but no other compensation offered. Disappointing to say the least. Will be interested in the managers response?

    Enjoyable visit

Spacious family suite with two large attached rooms and two bathrooms and two balconies. Most closet space Ive ever seen in Italy. Nice pool and van service takes you to and from the beach with never more than a five minute wait. Hotel has a functional gym and well-priced spa services. The restaurant buffet was good and always had adequate choices to satisfy everyones needs. What makes this hotel excellent was the service. The staff were all exceptional with special mention to Alessandro, the maitre d. He went out of his way to be accommodating, personable, and welcoming. Grazie per tutto Alessandro!

    Memorable holiday in exceptional hotel

A few days ago we left Golf Hotel Punta Ala with a bit of sadness in our Hearts after having spent 3 weeks there. My 9 and 11yrs old children and I went without my husband who stayed behind for work and at first I wondered how the kids would enjoy themselves whilst I would carve some time off for myself to read and relax. Well, no need to worry there! Golf Hotel staff were the most attentive and welcoming from the moment we set foot in the reception. In fact, the amazing Bianca in the reservation team set the tone so professionally and helpfully way before we arrived. There would be too many people to mention who stood out for professionalism, competence, kindness and for going beyond the duty of their role. I shall highlight some: The Kids club team led by Paolone (big Paolo - as self appointed) was beyond outstanding. So much so that both my children decided to join in either daily or on and off. And that was in itself quite a new thing for them. All of them deserve a special mention. Roberto: pool life guard maestro! Always ready to help, to keep the pool area spotless and also a great swimming teacher. He gave my kids lessons and considering they are both in swimming clubs in London we have seen our fair share of teaching methods! He had them work super hard but yet kept it fun. Hes a water polo instructor during winter and so mature for his age! Also, able to tackle promptly small emergencies with care and professionalism. Arianna, Chiara and Cecilia kept the younger children and also adults entertained and in check with stretching/fitness (Arianna) twice a day. Arts and crafts, dance, fun in the pool, fun at the beach daily.....endless amounts of fun and care!! Paolo and the rest would take over the kids evening with an unmissable (for my daughter especially!!) dance session. Energy, fun and care in abundance!! Thank you so much!! Reception and waiters were the most professional and helpful at ALL times. With a few of them standing out. Tennis lessons are held on the beautiful on site tennis courts led by the incredibly professional and amazing teacher Eurialo. A little pricey even for London standards but very deserving. Driving us back and forth with the navetta service was Raffaele - discreet, friendly and again, so professional! Our rooms (219) were 2 interconnected very large doubles with 2 separate bathrooms with large and powerful showers, massive amount of storage and balconies overlooking the pool. Perfect for a family of 4! The barman at the hotel created some amazing non alcoholic drinks for the kids and myself! The beach staff and management under Elena kept the beach and its toilets and restaurants super clean (!!) and working well for all. We have been around the world and Italy extensively and would normally visit a 5* hotel which is where we are now and to us Golf Hotel Punta Ala deservedly matches a 5* standard. We very highly recommend a visit at Golf Hotel Punta Ala. We are definitely going to go back in 2021!!
