Convenient and good valueI stayed in this Hotel with my wife and 2 teenage kids in September 07. We needed 2 rooms (not uncommon if you need 4 beds in Germany) and came by train. so the hotel was chosen on price and distance from station. We also wanted to stay in the Old-town district as it is a nice location.. Pros : Staff were very friendly and helpful. They made sure we were happy with the rooms. Breakfast was generous, as is to be expected in this country, served in a quaint "stube" and they have a specialty of fried egg and bacon IN toast which is unusual for Germany. My kids called it the "Bear Hotel" as the hotel has a Teddy bear theme throughout. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. The location is very convenient to station, shops, eating and drinking and town sights, though still quiet for sleeping. Cons: Staff leave you in peace, though some travelers that require a lot of help may feel they "disappear" for long periods. (I didn't mind it myself.) There is no lift and a narrow staircase. If staying on the third floor, Luggage could be an issue for some. Rooms are spartan and no fridge. Though this is typical in this price range in Germany.

not too impressiveThe breakfast room and food was lovely, the room was comfortable however there were only net curtains up to the window and its easy for any neighboring houses to look in. The shower fixings were hanging away from the wall, which made it difficult to shower. The stairs are something else, they are so steep very difficult to master especially with luggage, even though a special request was made for a low floor and it was confirmed by email, it did not happen. Very rarely do you see the owners of the hotel , ( only at breakfast ) keys are left in room door on arrival and your name on a board telling you which room to go to ( no welcoming commitee waiting ) However Wurzburg is a fantastic city and we will definately return but with alternative arrangements for accommodation.

Nothing "golden" about this hotel without receptionYes, no reception and I mean it! We arrive and look for a reception, instead we find a board with our name written on it (along with the names of all guests who had booked) and the room allocation. They don't register guests, don't check documents and only accept cash payments. I don't think this is in line with hotel regulations. The key? in the room lock. The room? Open, so any other guest could enter and "use" it before you arrive. Room size? Good is you are a dwarf. The hotel is advertised as the house for the little teddy bears but indeed good service looks different.

Very good valueHotel accomodation is very expensive in Würzburg. This one is an exception and well situated near to the centre of the city. The reception service is a bit strange: if you arrive in the afternoon, you find your room number and where to find the key on a whiteboard. Breakfast is good with very friendly service. Rooms and cleanliness perfectly up to standard. It's useful to know that there is no lift, only stairs to have access to 1st and 2nd floor. The hotel has no own parking place, but a parking garage is aroud the corner. The restaurant serves decent local food at a good price. Recommended.

Nice little hotelClean, good breakfast but checking in was definitively different. Go up the stairs and find a board that tells you what room you are in. If you get it every thing is good... 10 minute walk from train station
