  Just as it should be: nice hotel, well maintained

  I love L'Escaut (French for the River Schelde) for its nice location near the centre of a lively little town (good & relaxed shopping!) and at only 50 meters from the river shore with +++ panoramic views, sea birds and a mini beach ;-) Nothing spectacular, but spacious, light, friendly athmosphere; good breakfast and river view from the higher rooms. Good value for money! And something I really appreciate: rooms are really clean. Immaculate. In the Netherlands hotels are not always 100 % hygienic alas. This venue I trust. Nice and trendy eatery too.

  A Cozy Hotel for a Business-Traveller

  The hotel is situated in a small town where you can hardly meet any tourists. My room was on the ground floor and it had 2 levels - the bed and the bathroom were situated on the upper level and the table with the lamp and mini-bar were on the lower level. The bed was huge and nice, the room was quite big and piecefull at the same time. The total impression of the hotel was good.

  Quiet with panoramic view

  Amazing how quiet the room was. Certainly because our room was facing the Schelde and the canal. The evening views (we were facing West) were wonderful. The room was spotless, the bathroom well equipped. You could see that the hotel was already a bit older, but well maintained. We did not use the restaurant of the hotel, except for breakfast, which was good. The staff was helpful and efficient.

  Breakfast fine, but the hotel needs some renovation.

  Very nice breakfast and nice sea-view if you book a room with sea-view. But the hotel needs some renovation. The carpet is old and dirty. Carpet is not what you want. You can hear people in the other room above you walking throug their room. The water pressure is too low in the bathroom. And the whole hotel smells for fish diners.

  Well maintained

  After many hours of driving, we enjoyed the rest in the spacious and clean bedroom. The staff was very responsive and welcoming. Because of a town celebration we could not find a way to drive to the Hotel. Eventually we drove through several blocked roads, passed through the no driving signs to reach its location. An E-Mail, with some instructions on how to reach the hotel, would have been appreciated. All in all, excellent location. Fair price. Delicious food.
