  Awesome hotel ...but Read my review before booking a Ocean Front Room room

  My husband and I recently enjoyed our stay at the ICONA Avalon. The hotel is immaculate!!! During our stay they were painting and upgrading rooms that to me (a very particular person) appeared in fantastic condition. So let me be clear, I love the hotel and the employees are all VERY nice. Only The Brew Pub was open during our stay and it was ok. They breakfast was very good and the dinner was decent. The service was excellent...and like I said, that was the same throughout the hotel. One of the things I just want to mention for the traveler that wants to book those Oceanfron rooms...we need to talk. The website lists that there are Corner Ocean Front or Dune Front rooms. The website description on the Corner Ocean Front rooms read that they are on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Well, we were put in the 2nd floor Corner Ocean Front room and right away, I thought, "Oh, they made a mistake, I reserved Ocean Front, not Dune Front". So we called down and told them that we thought they made a mistake b/c all I could see out our windows was a lot of dune. Now mind you....just at the top of the dune I could see the horizon of the ocean...it was a sliver at best. But lets be real, if you aren't seeing the waves break, its not Ocean Front. Long story short, they did move us to the 3rd Floor, which is truly Ocean Front, b/c you can see the ocean and the waves breaking. They didn't put us there orginally b/c that floor was being upgraded. However, my issue is, if you are going to pay ALL that money for an Ocean Front room, you want to see the ocean. The hotel really needs to change the description on their website. The first and second floor rooms are Dune Front, no matter what they say. And I have to believe I am not the only on to ever give them issue about this. I was just lucky that they could accommodate me b/c it was the middle of winter and the hotel was completely empty. In the summer, you might be severely dissappointed. Like I said, this didn't sour my stay b/c they were able to correct it however, I will be hesitant about booking int he future unless they can guarantee me the 3rd floor. If you aren't booking an Ocean Front room then there is no issue. The rooms are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! And the kitchenettes are great. 2 burner stove, a small microwave, a little fridge, a sink. They have pots and pans and dishes. Its perfect, esp if you are traveling w kids. I can't comment on the beach or any other services b/c it was cold when we were there. I do hope to go back soon!!! Oh and dinner at the Reeds was lovely.

  Highly recommend!

  Stayed at the Icona for one night. Beautiful room with very comfortable bed. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Loved Brew Pub, great service, food and atmosphere! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

  What a marvelous night for a moon rise!

  We decided to escape the craziness of the world for a night by staying at the Icona Avalon. We stayed in one of their amazing beach front rooms and while it wasn't exactly beach weather, we throw on a jacket and a scarf, grabbed a glass of wine and enjoyed the tranquility of the ocean right from our private deck. And that's when it happened... what we thought was a well lit small cruise ship turned out to be a bright orange full moon rising into the clearing night. What an experience! Then we ate at their Brew Pub for dinner (Chicken sandwich is awesome!) , slept in the 5 star bedding (best pillows on the planet) and finished our 1 day get away back in the Brew Pub for breakfast by splitting a ham, cheese and mushroom Omelet with fantastic diced potatoes. The restaurant and front desk folks could not have been more accommodating. The world was good again for at least one day. We will return!

  Nothing short of amazing for my husbands birthday getaway!!

  This is our fourth stay at the Icona and each time it only gets better. Randel the general manager always goes over and beyond for us. We escaped the craziness of the world this past weekend to celebrate my husbands 45th birthday. This was exactly what we both needed after stressful jobs and four children! We stayed on the 3rd floor corner oceanfront room and the view was absolutely stunning. We bundled up and sat on our balcony and enjoyed a bottle of wine and watched the waves crash. All of the staff at the Icona are always warm, welcoming and outgoing. We enjoyed lunch at the Brew Pub and it was delicious. The server was very attentive and went out of her way to make sure we had a great meal. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway in the middle of February. Thanks again for a fantastic stay! We will definitely be back soon!

  Private Event on Open - Air Veranda!

  During a time where life events have drastically been altered as a result of the Global Pandemic, the Veranda at Icona Avalon provided a space allowed us the ability to safely celebrate a Bride to be! We were able to safely and successfully have a Bridal Shower with select family and friends, directly due to the space. The veranda's exterior sides widows and open roof provided ample air flow to make loved ones feel safe while still warmed by the heaters. The staff set up the space with ample social distancing in place and went above and beyond to assist our guests for a positive experience. Thankful to have found a venue that could safely accommodate bringing family and friends together during these times to happily celebrate loved ones!
