  Not exceptional

  Hotel OK if you search only the price. Smell cigarette and clean is at the limit of acceptable. Well located near the famous old town street. Reception is helpful and nice. The breakfast is typically Chinese. There are some western food but not so much. We spent only 1 night.

  Horrible Hotel

  Booked for two nights but checked out the other morning due to horrible smell in the room. Aircon was not working properly. Complained with Hotel staff and checked other rooms but condition was same. Carpet was all stained, buffet dinner was horrible. Only plus is proximity to city market but I am sure there must be other decent hotels near by and his Hotel should definitively be avoided.

  Excellent standard

  Usually I just care about the hotel being clean and quiet. Friends and I came to spend one night in Suzhou just to look at some of the gardens and canal attractions. We didn't need a luxury hotel as we'd be out late having a few drinks and just need a clean, comfortable room to sleep and shower before returning home. This hotel was really excellent and met our expectations and more. Greeted by all staff at the hotel. Fast, friendly check in. Big comfortable rooms. Stored luggage happily. Excellent buffet breakfast. Thank you for being better than we needed.

  Hope to not stay here again

  Nice from the outside but not from the inside. Room small and clean. Bed basically a box spring with a pad on it; in other words hard as a rock. Really no air conditioning to speak of, did ask and received a table fan. Internet awful. Breakfast included but little to select from other than Chinese options. Main restaurant open for dinner which was quite good and only Chinese options. Almost no English spoken so make sure can figure things out for yourself. Hotel also struggled with credit card payments.

  Not if I have any kind of choice!

  I agree with what others have said. I have lived in China for 11 years now and have traveled to many cities and stayed in many hotels of higher and lower quality, standard, name, you name it, but this is one of the worst. The room was large enough, but furnishings, decoration, equipment were all very outdated. Very standard Chinese style hotel. Bed was harder than the street outside. The air conditioner was not controlled by the individual thermostat in the room, but only allowed you to get it as cool as the hotel had the main thermostat set at. The room / halls stunk of old smoke, as did the bedding and pillows. I am horribly allergic to cigarette smoke, and I was almost sick the next morning from it. The carpets were nasty, stained, watermarked, cigarette burnt, as were the bedside tables. Wifi was fine. Lighting was atrocious. Unless this place goes through a complete and total refurbishment, I would never even think about sleeping here again, if it's my choice. I'd go to the cheaper and more comfortable places just up the street.
