  Outdated, loud, and tired

  Thankfully We only stayed here for one night. This hotel is mostly for people who come here for a venue at the hotel ( weddings or parties ). Its loud, no insulation, and the rooms need a major renovation. Everything is musty, dark, and the hotel hasnt been renovated in a long time. If you want to get a good night of sleep, avoid this place and stay at a Marriott. Unfortunately, all the hotels were booked due to family weekend at Union college and we were stuck here. I will never ever stay here again. Id rather stay further away than this place.

  This place is a complete dump. Stay away.

  We made a reservation to stay at the Glen Sanders mansion for the union college weekend. We reserved two rooms in April, approximately five months before our stay, to be sure that we would have a place to stay on this busy weekend. When we arrived, they gave us one room downstairs right next to the ball room; and a second room upstairs literally across from the bridal suite where they were serving food and had an open bar. The place was as rowdy as a frat house. When we complained downstairs, The manager was extremely rude and unhelpful; and told us that they were fully booked and we were welcome to leave, if we wished. We took them up on their offer and reserved two rooms across town at the Hampton Inn. Just a few comments on the rooms. They were old, dingy, loud and were not up to even mediocre standards. Quite frankly, if the place were dead quiet, I wouldnt stay there. There are other better choices nearby. I highly recommend that you try them out, and avoid this dump.

  Lacking service

  Stayed there for our niece's wedding. It's old and needs serious updating. Our bathroom was updated but my son's was in time warp going back to 80's. They are lacking staff. They had only two people cleaning rooms and then front desk manager had to help. We left room for ceremony at church around 11:15 am , told the cleaning ladies that we were leaving and would be back to dress for reception around 3:30pm. Well, they forgot, never cleaned our room, had to find cleaning woman who was by herself, the other one left for day. We basically told her to just clean bathroom and replace towels, no vacuum etc. Also walls are thin, you can hear your neighbor. We should have stayed at Hampton Inn.

  We were in town to visit family

  We had a pretty good stay. The hotel has been updated and I can't say I like the new style - kind of glitzy and not very homey. The shower is poorly designed in that you have to get in it in order to turn on the water. You can't adjust the temperature before you get in. That is a poor design. Also, they pipe in loud music to all the common areas and even outside. The music is all Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Dean Martin - all the Italian Crooners from the rat pack era. It gets tiresome. The location is good. Right across the river from downtown Schenectady so if you are going to a Union College function or a Proctor's event it is very convenient. The complimentary breakfast is mostly bagels, cereal, oatmeal and a waffle maker. Adequate but not as as good as at some hotels. No eggs or sausage or bacon.

  Beautiful & Very Friendly Inn

  I've been reading the reviews on the Glen Sanders and to be honest with you, I am totally bewildered by these comments. First of all, let me say that my daughter recently got married on June 30, 2019 and we had the reception at The Glen Sanders that day and I just can't give enough credit to the "WHOLE STAFF" who were so attentive to my guest and us during the celebration and after. This was my first time there was the day of the wedding. My wife & daughter were there many times to make arrangements and such. The place from what I understand did a total 100% renovation and it shows. There now is a beautiful staircase in the center of the lobby if you want to take the stairs to your rooms instead of the elevator. Speaking of rooms, we booked many of the rooms that night for us and our guest. My daughter naturally had the "Bridal Suite". Rooms were beautiful and we took the view of the lake. After the venue, we who were still up went th their Bar Lounge downstairs and hung out with family & friends until 1:00 AM the next morning. The staff was top notch and helped us with anything that we wanted and did it without you feeling you were bothering them. By the way, when you have a special day like a wedding, it is only one wedding at a time so it is really very private. The next day, we had the breakfast buffet and the food and staff again was superb. Yes, I know they work on tips so stop typing...they were really very attentive to our needs. Bottom line, if you are looking for a place that will give you service, accommodations and great food, choose The Glen Sanders! Ask for Nancy, she was so gracious and helped my wife and daughter tremendously! Whatever training the staff goes through, shows. I would like to go back just for the weekend just my wife and I. We live in Saratoga Springs New York so it would only be a 40 minute ride for us. I LOVE ThIS PLACE!!! Also want to say a special "thank you" to Anthony. You and your staff made my daughters wedding a very, very special day! Can't thank you enough!!!
