    Fantastic stay - great hotel.

We had booked our flight to visit the Thessaloniki region of northern Greece for an event that had been cancelled, so a month before the trip we decided to switch to the Mt Athos side as opposed to the Mt Olympus side. While the trip to the Olympus side it was just about achievable in a taxi, the journey to Lerissos was just over 100km and hiring a car was the only sensible option. I was vaguely concerned that after an early start the long boring motorway drive could see me feeling a bit drowsy - No need to worry about that - there was not a kilometre of motorway and the mountain roads that were not tight and twisty were tighter and twistier. My advice is to hire a fun car, not a gutless little diesel Punto as I did! Arrival at the hotel was pretty painless - we were early but that was not an issue (clearly don't bank on that, but it was great for us). We managed to grab a parking space under the awning which also shouldn't be taken for granted as there aren't as many spaces as there are rooms. The receptionist Anna had been helpful answering questions via the booking site we used so it was nice to meet her. The next piece of good news was that they had upgraded us to a superior room. We had actually been fine with the regular room so had not chosen to pay for the better one, but a mini bar, Nespresso machine, gowns and slippers are always going to be appreciated and we did make use of all of them! We are not usually big users of a balcony, but this one had an electrically operated awning which meant it was comfortable to use all day. The views were not spectacular, but there are plenty of beach bars and cafes less than 5 minutes away, this was just about having some private outdoor space. The rooms apparently were renovated a few years ago and they still felt brand new. Our bed was two singles, held together at the head by the bedside tables, but not attached at the foot, so rolling around too much may have found you on the floor! Separate duvets are actually a good thing when your wife likes to roll over and steal all the covers! The mattress and pillows were both perfect for me, although my wife found the pillows a bit stiff. Blackout curtains did a sterling job , there was a TV with international channels (we didnt watch it), a shallow desk which you wouldn't want to do any serious amounts of work at, but fine for a few emails. There was plenty of wardrobe space and an ironing board and iron. In another cupboard was the safe - a pet hate of mine, it wasnt anchored to the wall. Now this seems like a fairly trusting town so perhaps I am being paranoid? There was a plug on each side of the bed, one above the minibar where the kettle would plug into and another on the desk for the Nespresso machine. We could have done with a few more when we first arrived and had lots of kindles, phones, powerbanks, toothbrushes etc. running on empty, but after that initial top up all was well. The bathroom was nicely decorated and the towels were very nice. Pressure in the shower was great and the supplied toiletries were fine. It was a bit too easy for the water to get past the shower door and make its way into the bathroom, or even the main room but once you were aware of this you could try to keep yourself and the water close to the drain. A shame though. Housekeeping was great! The room was always made up immaculately. The breakfast buffet was also great. I can enjoy most food at most times of day, but this had enough variety to keep me interested. The couple I assumed to be the owners also ate from the same buffet and I saw them a few times making comments to the staff about dishes not being hot enough etc. I thought this was a nice touch. My only criticisms are that other reviews indicated that eggs etc could be cooked to order - we were not offered this. Also a hot water urn might have been nice to make your own tea rather than having to ask, given that a fantastic selection of teabags were on display. This was a great breakfast though! There is a limited amount to do in Lerissos so Im not sure if I would come back, but if I do Gkeea is definitely where I would choose to stay!

    Great Hotel!

Went with my family and it was all great, starting with the staff, the room, the breakfast, and ending with the wireless internet network. The best internet network I have ever had in Greece. They have everything you can think of!!! Thinking about going back next year ;) ... it was THAT good !!!

Very good hotel serving a spectacular breakfast!

We stayed at Gkeea for a week in June 2019 and the overall experience was very good, so we highly recommend this place. + Great location, near the city center and the beach. + Very nice and cozy room, clean, with modern appliances. + Spectacular breakfast, with plenty of food choices. + Friendly staff + Private parking - WiFi not password protected. - Limited private parking spots, but there's public parking nearby. - Nespresso machine in the room, but not Nespresso coffee.

What a find, took care of me well throughout my stay

This place was great. They arranged a taxi pick-up from Thessaloniki for 96 euro which was very reasonable given the distance, and offered me a free taxi early the next morning to get the boat to Mt. Athos. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and the receptionist very pleasant. This place was quite a find and I wouldn't even look anywhere else if I were going back to Ierissos. My only regret is that my stay was just one night!
