    Hoilday review.

Hotel it self was lovely and very clean. The only negative was some of the staff were very rude.they had three segments of breakfast lunch and dinner ,and nothing in between.they were very strict on there food service times throughout the day.and you only got coffee at breakfast and it wasn't included in the all exclusive. Which was pretty poor.and no entertainment what so ever at the hotel.

    Not as advertised

Describing your hotel as an all inclusive but still charging for drinks (2 for a tea or coffee outside of breakfast hours), snacks and air- con (6 a day). Alcohol is also not included in the package, despite the brochure saying so. Not at all as advertised. The hotel and rooms are completely different design. The walls have damp and mould everywhere, which is probably why they were repainted. The damp from the wall was so bad, that it had gone through and into our suitcase. This meant that we had to pack our things inside a damp case. The hotel has no entertainment at all. WiFi does not work in any of the rooms - if you need to use it, it only works in reception. There is not enough sunbeds for all guests, particularly in peak season. These were reserved with towels every morning - which the hotel staff did nothing about. On this issue, there also seems to be a lot of favouritism for the German customers, as they quite clearly received a better service from the staff. There are a number of starving and dead cats around the hotel. They enter the restaurant while you are eating and will also walk around the pool and bar areas. Many have fleas. It appears that the hotel do nothing to care for them, yet fail to move them from the grounds. They are not fed or given water. A very sad sight to see. Food was very basic and incredibly limited. It looked like something a hungover university student would serve up. Stayed for a week and we were served the same food at every meal - probably just reheated from the previous nights meal. If the scrambled eggs arent finished at breakfast? Expect them mixed into your pasta at lunch. On more than one occasion, we were served raw meat. Chicken was pink inside. One night, we were given warm shellfish - with no bones or shells removed. They were all mixed in to the same dish together. The poisonous parts of the fish were also not removed. The bread is stale, and drinks are watered down so much that you are unlikely to be able to recognise what you are supposed to be drinking. Some days we didnt even bother going in to eat, because we knew how awful it would be. The floor and worktops within the kitchen and serving area are not cleaned regularly. The only good thing about the food here was that due to its appalling presentation and taste, youre likely to go home a few stone lighter. Reception staff are very friendly. However, the bar and restaurant staff are appalling. One evening, my daughter and I went for dinner after sunbathing, and she wore her bikini top with a skirt due to her sunburn. A staff member shouted at her from the other side of the restaurant, and walked over (continuously shouting) and told her to cover up whilst making indecent gestures about her chest. Of course she put on a t shirt, but he then watched another girl enter the restaurant in a revealing sports bra, and said nothing. There was also multiple other girls wearing bikini tops on that day, as well as the following days. When we complained about the unfairness and his lack of discretion, he first claimed that he had not seen the girl, but later changed his mind and said he had seen her, but she was not wearing a sports bra. He was reprimanded by a senior member of staff for his rudeness and was told to apologise. Even then, he was smirking and failed to see what he had done wrong. Totally wrong and unacceptable. The only positive about this hotel was its location. It is only a five minute walk to the beach - sunbeds there are 3 a day. Also within walking distance to other excursions such as Erikas Horse Farm - which is well worth a visit. Busses into Kos Town are 2.10 (single fare) and can be caught from the bus stop outside the Hermes Hotel, just a ten minute walk from the hotel. There is a bus schedule in reception. Apart from this, the hotel is in a very rural location. Both sides overlook farms. Admittedly, you get what you pay for. This hotel is only a 3*, however for the price you pay, its not worth it. We expected a lot better. Simply not good enough. Overall, I would definitely not return here. The advertisement was false and food was appalling. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

    Wonderful

I stayed here this July with my best friend, we are both 18 and the staff were very welcoming and treated us like mature adults, which was a nice change from the UK. The staff quickly knew us by our names and greeted us each morning, which was very friendly. The property is very clean and the food is wonderful, changing slightly each day to provide variety. I am a vegetarian and I managed to eat here just fine! The hotel is only a short walk from bars and restaurants suitable for all ages. The beach nearby is beautiful and makes for a great day activity. I would definitely return!!

Decent hotel with very nice employees

The picture looks much nicer than the hotel, that is for sure. Giakalis is a very nice hotel but it looks not more than alright. We stayed 21-28 september 2019, we had a cough almost immediately lasting until departure on 28th. We are not sure why this is, but other hotel guests have the same phlegm-cough. Its impossible to miss the fact that everyone here has this cough. Why? I have no idea. I am just saying. For a 3 star hotel - this is really great. The pool is really alright. The sea is close. But i want to just alert here - the all-inclusive isn't exactly "all-inclusive". And this information is indeed given by the hotel, but i just want to clarify - this is a local version of all-inclusive and it should be called something else. You get local beer with a funky fruity taste, local white wine, brandy and some ouzo. And of course soft drinks. But coffee is not included, it costs around 1 euro. Just to clarify. If you want a really nice weekend on a Greek island for a low price, i can recommend this hotel since it is close to the coast. Golden Beach is about 5-10 minute walk. The big supermarket is 15-20 minutes walk from here with much better prices than the mini-markets. Bus to see Kos City is 2.10 euro, i recommend doing this if you go here. Take one day off and see Kos City, perhaps try to see sunset in Zia. Its difficult to do Island sightseeing from Marmari, where Giakalis is located. Buses are mostly toward Kos City, and from there you can go to other locations.

    Excellent hotel highly recommend!

Wow just wow! We consider ourselves very lucky to have come across this gem of a hotel! I feel some reviews on here are really not selling the hotel in a good light so wanted to share our experience. We had a late arrival and were greeted by a friendly staff. Our room was spacious and well appointed with an excellent bathroom and small kitchen, sandwiches and drinks were provided for a midnight snack - most welcomed. The grounds are stunning and well cared for, clean, a lovely pool with smaller pool for younger children. Plenty of beds in both shade and sun for all. Feline visitors are around and clearly cared for even if they are strays food was seen left around the hotel for them in various locations - not concern over their welfare as some other reviews have stated. All inclusive - 3 good meals each day were provided with a range of options that would cater for most tastes - some reviews I noted criticise the fact that sausages, for example, from breakfast reappear in a lunch stew or salad but frankly that is sensible and practical catering as far as I see it. Tea coffee etc available at breakfast but are chargeable the rest of the day. A range of alcoholic and soft drinks included in the package are available from 10.30am to 10pm at the pool bar, additional drinks can also be purchased if required. The staff were just wonderful, always pleased to help out, nothing was too much trouble, were always on hand and we got to know some of them a bit over the course of our stay. Location to Marmari beach is a real bonus, the hotel wasnt over crowded, any over exuberance in the pool by children was dealt with professionally and swiftly so guests were not effected. We would definitely visit again and would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so Wonderful. We include recent photos from our visit.
