  Muy atractivo

  Primero que todo, estar en Dais Ababa en sí es muy maravilloso. Disfruté mi estancia allí. Es una ciudad tan encantadora. La gente es hospitalaria, decente, y respeta a los visitantes. Solía hospedarme en el Hotel Gion, no por el precio, pero porque está en el centro de la ciudad, y tiene jardines hermosos en los alrededores, las vistas son atractivas, y la piscina cercana tiene buen servicio. El hotel es limpio, el personal es profesional, muy amable, y está preparado a hacer tu estancia muy cómoda. Me agradó el restaurante tradicional internacional subterráneo con sus deliciosas comidas etíopes y servicios. Anhelo regresar a Gion esperando disfrutar del clima y las áreas históricas y famosas de Etiopía.

  Ni ha mi peor enemigo.

  Habitaciones enmoquetadas y sucias a un precio desorbitado.Mucha fama y poca realidad.

  Hotel entrañable

  Jardines magníficos en este hotel dentro de Addis Abeba. Su ubicación es magnífica para acercarse a lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad, como el Teatro y algún otro hotel de los primeros que hubo en la ciudad, como el Ras Hotel.

  Just an average Hotel with a lot to improve on

  We stayed at the Ghion Hotel for five days. We had a training at the College of Health Sciences that is in very close proximity to the Hotel. Actually within a walkable distance. To start with, I had to change the first room I was allocated at check in. It was located at the old wing. It had a very old analogue TV which wasn't even working. The bathroom had a broken window. I just couldn't imagine staying in it for the five days. I was shifted to the newly renovated wing which was fairly much better though still not even very good (From room 315 to room 233). It had twin beds that were really small. The bathroom is just average. Just two soap tablets provided. No shower gels, shampoo, hair dryer etc... that are usually provided by good facility hotels. The water heater line was just hanging in the bathroom which raises electrical safety issues. Water pressure in the bathroom shower was abnormally low. The heater just gives out luke warm water. Unfortunately the one for my room was intermittent (On & off). The positive side to the bathroom is that the Hotel provides you a tooth brush & tooth paste. The room had no electric kettle for coffee or tea. Leave alone providing the accessories. The TV was flat screen but with very few channels dominated by local channels (About 10-12). The room intercom had no telephone numbers list. Not even that for the reception. There is construction and renovation work going on at the Hotel. This has not necessarily affected the stay of guests at the Hotel. The Hotel wireless is slow and very limited. Inside the room is unstable. You need to be at some spots , that's when you can successfully get it. The positive side to the room is that the Hotel provides you with a bottle of water every day. And airport transfer is free and covered by the Hotel. In terms of price, its a low budget hotel. Maybe we shouldn't be complaining about the service given the room prices. Never the less, there is a lot for them to improve on. Another challenge I faced was the language barrier. Not every staff at the Hotel comfortably speaks English. More especially those at the restaurant. You really try to explain what you want. However this was not only at the Hotel but a general challenge even outside the Hotel. The Gym is independently run from the Hotel and a slight distance from it. And paid for. Unfortunately only stopped at the reception for inquiry and never returned. Communication with the receptionist at the Gym was a challenge. I have been to a number of Hotels in different countries, however given the experience at Ghion, there is a lot for the staff and management to improve on to make the Hotel competitive. Another take home message is that hotel website impressions can be very misleading. They may not necessarily reflect what is on ground. I have noticed this with the Ghion experience. They have a very excellent website which does not reflect the reality on ground.

  Terrible food with terrible consequences

  The Ghion hotel-do not eat here. We have India trained stomachs and, much to our chagrin for our last day in Ethiopia, we both got disgustingly ill the next day. We should have listened to our gut on the signs: completely empty restaurant, dingy tablecloths, dispassionate staff (some, not all). Maybe its normal to have stray cats run through restaurants in addis but we hadnt seen any anywhere else. The bread roll at the start of the meal was stale and hard. We ordered the veggie burger and it came with a surprisingly large amount of food: two patties, some fries, carrots, and greens. The patty was well formed but somewhat bland and, worse, cold, and did not seem fresh. The fries seemed cold in the inside and oily on the outside. The greens were luke warm and unseasoned. Boiled carrots were fine. Hard to know which part of the meal made us ill as it all seemed suspiciously unfresh. The only reason we ate there is because it seemed like the only quick option before we went to the African jazz village. But in retrospect, the better option would have been to not eat at all. Lot of potential in this place due to location and history but I would not go back unless ownership/ management changes, or Gordon Ramsey visits. we regretted dining here both in the short(eating it) and long term(dealing with the explosive aftermath).
