  Absolutely dire

  The exterior has a new lick of smart modern grey paint, dont let that fool you. My room was dire, the radiator was broken, the lights did not work, the room smelled strongly of urine. There was dried urine in the loo seat. The floor in the room was broken plastic Lino. The corridor inside the hotel was in very poor condition with much of the ceiling removed and leaking water. Do NOT stay here. Yes it was competitively priced but there is no excuse for some of the failings.

  Xmas present value 175 pounds

  Greeted and explained a few flooding leaks so will not mention buckets and no lights in hallways .size of room ok bedding clean .shower screen filthy dust and cobwebs everywhere .made aware 50 pound of voucher for dinner so anything over we pay.asked would we like to eat or have a drink in bar 1st chose drink in bar at sofa and given menu to choose for when ready at table .10 minutes later food brought to bar explained no table told this way then .asked for description of an item on menu will ask chef never came back no viniguar available.pudding chosen by wife a share posh fresh thing in comes a teaspoon Blob of ice cream and what looked like a wagon wheel the wife notices it is a singular 1 not the share as only 1 icecream and still frozen .now being silent and saying yes all ok after 6 times of being ask got my bill for full amount explained we had paid with booking was told they never new .gave room number only left service charge yes I kid you not lol we went elsewhere for drinks ..no apologies or explanation and left in morning shame could be a great place ..

  Overnight stay for work

  The hotel was in the middle of repairs following storm damage. There was no restaurant open on Sunday evening and very little light throughout. The room was old fashioned with paint peeling. The noise from the high street came straight through the windows making it difficult to sleep in the morning. At breakfast I asked for vegetarian sausages only to be told they had none. In 2020 when more and more people are turning vegetarian and vegan and they had no options. The gym was the redeeming feature but alone it would have only been given 3 stars as some of the equipment did not work.

  Wonderful

  Stayed here for three nights for work purposes, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food and drink price was reasonable for the area the area. The building is a little outdated but it is old! Ample parking and decent sized swimming pool with some fitness equipment in the small gym, Plenty of local shops and pubs. I would definitely recommend.

  Fantastic hotel, fantastic breakfast

  Stayed here for two nights for my partners daughters wedding. Room was huge and the staff were really friendly. Hotel is beautiful with lovely touches. Fantastic breakfast too. Great value for money. Highly recommended
