Poor customer service, dirty roomDesk clerk and manager were both very rude. I found pieces of food, toys and used tissues under the bed and in the bathroom. The grounds were in poor condition. Mowing needed and trees overgrown. The cost of the room was about $90 and they charged $75 for my pet. They claimed that $50 was a cleaning fee. Maybe I should have billed them for cleaning under the bed and the bathroom. The breakfast did not have much variety.

Terribly DissapointedGreetings, I would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone. We have been traveling to Williamsburg, Va for years. However, this was a spur of the moment trip and all of the normal hotels where we stay were booked. Twenty years ago this was a very nice hotel. The automatic entry doors were malfunctioning and only opened 8 inches, so you had to physically push the doors open. We didn't have an iron nor ironing board in the room. We tried to flush the toilet only to discover there was no water in the tank. My husband called the front desk for maintenance. We waited and waited for so long for someone to come and fix the toilet until my husband decided to go downstairs to the front desk to see where the maintenance guy was. The front desk clerk said she called the guy 3 times and didn't know what the hold up was. Finally the guy came and fixed the toilet. I thought our troubles were over until a bug was crawling in the bed with us. We went downstairs to checkout this morning an no one was at the front desk. The cook said to just leave your key at the front and leave. This was the worst experience I have ever had in Williamsburg and we have been going for 35 years. Totally disappointed and we were over charged for what we received.

NASTY !!!after standing for 10 minutes to check in (nobody behind desk) I noticed a little sign stating call number to check in.....I called the number and here comes a person, from the front door, no uniform and said you need to check in ? after checking in, went to room and keys did not work...back to front desk...no one to be found ! called number again....got into room and OMG !!! looked like urine stains on the bed linens and the air conditioner had black mold....called front desk....of course no answer, went down and found someone (which there is nobody there, very weird and unsafe) he came to room and said "yep that looks like black mold" we canceled room and went to another hotel......stay away !!!

A Cross Between "The Shining" and a version of "The Hotel California"I came into the hotel on a Friday night and found no one working the front desk, but a number to call to check in. I checked in and they gave me a very good (state employee rate--better than AAA). So far, so good. But what they did not tell me was that there were only 5 people staying in the hotel; as a result of this they offered "reduced services" but did not tell me that at check-in. The phones in the room took no incoming calls--you could call out but no one could call in. This was an issue for me as I had forgotten my cellphone charger and planned to use the room phone to get in touch with people I needed to talk to. I found out from the one employee who seemed to be working at the hotel that it is now independently owned, but is seeking to affiliate with a national brand, and that the management that checked me in was in Connecticut. The king sized bed bed was comfortable, but the fact is, it was supposed to be non-smoking hotel and the corridors reeked of smoke even though the room itself was fine. Basically, there was zero security at the front desk, which meant anyone could walk in off the street; that and the way the hotel was deserted in the winter made me conjure of visions of crazy Jack Nicholson with and axe in The Shining. Also, the fact that you could call out but ever call in put me in mind of some sort of twisted Hotel California, where you can check in but never check out. I complained to the management in Connecticut that I had not been told about the lack of phone service and security and general creepiness of the place at check in and was offred a full refund, but did not particularly care to venture out again late at night and find other accomodations. I did however, insist that I be able to call out free of charge since my friends were unable to call my room to reach me, and got unlimited free long distance that night. Needless to say, I did not sleep well even though the bed was comfortable, probably because of concerns for my safety and security as a woman on my own. I don't know if there was breakfast because I got out of this creepy place as soon as I could in the morning. My advice--don't stay at this hotel until it actually gets affiliated with a national brand and gets a full staff that's available at night. And if you do decide to stay here, make sure that your room phone can actually receive calls--or make the management provide you with free unlimited long distance service.

reservationI Made a reservation thru Hotwire; I purchased the $5 trip cancelation policy, it did not help me. I could not cancel the reservation unless I was sick or dying, missed flight, etc. and you have to fill out a claim form. I just wanted to cancel and couldn't; I'm sure the claim form would ask for verification if you said you were sick or whatever. it's a process to get your money back; the $5 policy is thru Allianz, and you have to deal with them. The hotel would not cancel the reservation even though I had the insurance.
