  Nice courtyard lunch - not reviewing hotel

  Visited for a lunch treat with my sister. We all enjoyed our food and despite a very busy and overworked waitress the service was excellent - she was very good. The beer was very good and the steak and ale pies were home cooked and perfect. My salad was good, a little bland and could have had more variety in it, but it was ok. Coffee was good, everywhere was clean and toilets were easily accessible too. Definitely worth a return visit,

  Family meet-up

  We stayed here overnight, 3 couples. We had a lovely time, sad to say in spite of staying here. We were upgraded to executive rooms and our general opinion was if this is executive what standard would the other rooms be very tired, no tissues in the box on the wall in any of our rooms. We had dinner which again wasnt the best. Two of us had burgers that tasted very strange to the point of being inedible. We did enquire and were told that the extra ingredient was sage. Sage does not belong in what wouldve been a delicious homemade burger. Bad idea. Three of us had fish and chips and the fish was little more than child sized. Barely any choice on wine, no wine list . I know this sounds like a harsh review and I dont mean it to be because the staff overall were lovely to us. We felt that everywhere you looked it was obvious that covid 19 had taken its toll. Not enough staff led to waiting too long for food and drinks, The staff were run off their feet and I cant say a bad word for any of them, they are the best thing about this hotel. I really hope that once we are over this pandemic the hotel will recover. Good luck

  Don't use the carpark

  £100 parking ticket in the empty car park during lockdown to take my pooch for a stroll, nasty outfit. Best avoided....even when it reopens - nice community feel whilst pandemic at full stretch, good work George.

  Afternoon Tea

  Afternoon Tea was lovely. The service was wonderful. Nick looked after us he was really friendly and also couldnt do enough for us. It was the service which will bring us back. Thank you Nick. Thumbs up!

  Wedding weekend

  I stayed with my husband for two nights for a wedding in Wallingford. We had a comfortable, quiet twin room and the hotel catered for the wedding reception. The food was very good and the staff went above and beyond to make this occasion welcoming and memorable. We felt safe and able to relax in the hotel environment with covid procedures all in place.
