Somewhat disappointing Christmas Day lunchNothing like the quality of service in 2018. We booked for 12:30 and expected to be taken to a reserved table forthwith, as in the previous year. But no. We were given welcome drinks and ushered into a bar which was crowded and noisy. We were not taken to our table until 45 minutes later, where the first course was already on the table, as was the case with all the tables for people who arrived after us. No explanation or apology was offered. In fact the food was good - the main course being a carvery, which later had a long queue snaking round the restaurant. First and last courses were quite rich. The table was quite plainly laid, with none of the delightful decorations of the previous year. The reception we received this time would not encourage us to return next Christmas.

family get togetherStaff very friendly throughout our weekend . Rooms very comfy with great wi-fi , my wife normally likes a bath but is raving about the shower . Free access to the spa if you are a guest (for limited time per day ) , lift access to second floor for people with mobility issues .Evening meal very well presented , but in our opinion over seasoned ( as personally i dont do salt , not even on chips ) Breakfast a great choice of toast ,marmalade , jam , cereals or help yourself hot buffet . Downside for breakfast no marmite portions for the toast , n the fella at front of house crossing off room numbers should have pointed out that you could have had kippers or other things by using the menu on the table. Otherwise a great weekend in our opinion .

Sunday carveryJust had the Sunday carvery, the food was good but totally ruined by the gravy which was thick, tasted of flour and was like glue on the food, the waitress was lovely, but the manager who we spoke to about it was very disinterested, we would certainly not recommend it and will definitely not be returning, which is such a shame as we are local and it would have been very convenient

Excellent service, lovely spa and good foodHad a weekend break with my partner and although was a little concerned by the location of the hotel (middle of nowhere) and its outside and surrounding area when we first arrived, those concerns were very quickly quashed when we got inside. The hotel was very clean and smart - the service was very polite, friendly and helpful. The spa was really lovely and we both had treatments that were conducted very well and utilised the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The food was of a high standard both dinner and breakfast and again, the staff were very helpful and professional. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Meal promotion runningDid a wowcher deal to celebrate my birthday (dinner bed breakfast wine spa treatment and cream tea) and got there one day before the great coronavirus lockdown so probably two of the last people to stay/eat there! From the outside, somewhat unprepossessing (maybe as out of high season), but inside - lovely! Smart, welcoming staff, everything neat and tidy. The spa facilities are awesome. Food in the restaurant was probably the best we've had all year. Room spacious and very clean and tidy - lovely, comfy bed and crisp bedlinen. The cherry on the cake must be the cream tea. Warm, crunchy outside/soft inside scones, lashings of cream and jam - excellent. Definitely be looking to go again once this virus malarky is over. Highltyrecommended.
