Loud and cahoticA very loud group of around 20 children was staying at the hotel and when they arrived in the dining room where we were having dinner the decibel level escalated and the waiters completely forgot about us. We ended up leaving the dining room without finishing dinner. Great position close to the slopes but not the most indicated spot for couples.

Great location, poor breakfastLocation: you can hardly get closer to the slopes. The hotel is literally at the bottom of the Deborah Compagnoni slope and right next to the Cabinova 1 lift. Also a great place for apres-ski fun with kids (you can use your sleighs at the bottom of the slope). Rooms: nice size, comfortable beds, cleaned regularly. However, not a lot of space to pack clothes. Showers are also a bit tricky for small children as shower heads are fixed high up on the wall. The common areas exhibit fascinating old skiing equipment and agricultural tools, making the hotel a bit of a local museum. Rooms 1 and 2 have nice views of the mountain, we even saw deers and foxes in the morning hours. Food: dinner on half board is copious and good quality, with an all-you-can-eat antipasti table with local specialities. Breakfast is definitely the biggest downside of this place, and a huge - and unexplainable - contrast to dinner: poor variety (same single type of cheese and ham for a whole week, no fruits or vegetables - whereas these are all available for dinner), very low quality of sugary fruit(?) juices, no warm dishes and - the biggest shock of all in Italy - extremely low quality of coffee. All these could be remedied easily and at a low cost. Luckily, the hotel's stand alone bar (with its wonderful and friendly Romanian bartendress) serves good coffee and other great drinks, including bombardino and local grappa (go for the special reserve).

Greeted like familySpent many a lovely Christmas at the hotel as a family in the past. Had not been for a few years but my son and I sneaked a few days on the snow at the end of March. We were welcomed back as if we were family. The hotel is wonderful, friendly staff, excellent food and a fabulous and calm atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble. The gondola up in the morning is a 5 minute stroll and the Stelvio down hill finishes across the road. Perfect in every way.

Big A
A good hotel but a little expensiveWe stayed here at a cost of 149 for B&B. A little expensive but the welcome was good with a drink on arrival and a great selection of items at breakfast. Our rooms over looked the car park at the front of the hotel but we also had great views of the ski run at the back of the town. It only took 5 minutes to walk into town. The car park held about 50 cars but with some of the guests taking up 2 of the small spaces we were lucky to get parked when we arrived around 2.00pm. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had a fridge.
