    Wonderful experience

We had the most wonderful experience during our stay. The staff is extremely accommodating and we felt like we were visiting with family during our stay. I would highly recommend Geneva on the Lake to anyone traveling to this region and would stay here again.

    Great stay

Yes as others have pointed out, this hotel is a little tired looking. But really it is quite a gem. We stayed in a landmark king w 2 twins. This was an 2 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen! The grounds are beautiful, awesome safe space for kids. Gorgeous views of the lake. There is not a tremendous staff here, but EVERYONE is there to help make you feel comfortable and safe and are responsive if you have an issue. We had a delicious dinner at Lancelottis. which was outside under a pergola with quiet dinner music so you could still carry on a conversation. You can walk into town easily past beautiful historic homes. We will be back.

Second Visit and Absolutely Adore It Still!

My husband and I got engaged at Geneva on the Lake in 2014 and returned this Labor Day for a secondary visit to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary (we were married in 2015). Both times we stayed in The Library suite and it is my absolute favorite! Full kitchen which is great for longer stays and for storing your wine, a wonderful fireplace with plenty of provided logs to enjoy. The suite is very spacious and the architecture throughout the entire premise is breathtaking. The owner is second generation as his father opened it as an Inn originally. The food is wonderful, a nightcap in the parlor is a perfect start or end to your evening, and the grounds and pool are enviable. We absolutely adore the Finger Lakes and if we are looking to splurge this is our place - you have all the wineries so close but then you come back to a little quiet oasis of old world hospitality and elevated luxury service. I cannot wait to return and wont wait 6 years to do so!

Special place for a romantic getaway

My husband & I stayed here for 4 nights in September. Our first pandemic hotel experience. We were completely comfortable. The staff was friendly, attentive & strictly followed all of the covid guidelines. They went out of their way to see that our stay would be pleasurable despite the necessary rules. No maid service, but the staff would switch out linens at our request. No one would enter the room unless we approved it. Anything we needed was left in a bag outside our room. The hotel itself is in a spectacular location, right at the top of Seneca Lake. We had a beautiful lake view from our room, but there is also a view from the large patio where drinks/dinner are served. We wandered the property with our cocktails and sat even closer to the lake in two of the many Adirondack chairs. We ate dinner inside the hotel restaurant the first evening. Delicious menu choices. Cozy atmosphere. Excellent wine list. View of the lake and the grounds. Breakfast was takeaway only & set up in the library. One minor complaint - the bed linens were not impressive. The blanket was a thin piece of cotton. We asked for a second one. Could have used a third. Would have liked a little more luxury in that department. Just an FYI. Would definitely make a return visit. Everything we expected and more.

    A tale of two inns......

My husband and I spent 4 nights in the Finger Lakes and had two wildly different lodging experiences. We started with two utterly delightful nights at Rowland House (one of the Inns of Aurora). Then, we moved to Geneva on the Lake and were sadly disappointed. Perhaps, I was captivated by the formal gardens, which reminded me of a hotel we love in Lake Como, but what we found was a property desperately in need of rehabilitation. Everything is in disrepair. My husband joked that we woke up in 1985. That would all be fine, except that the Inn is priced as a luxury hotel. The front desk staff were friendly but otherwise, staff seemed somewhat unprofessional in their appearance and demeanor. We chose one of the penthouses because we wanted some private outdoor space due to Covid. The inn offers almost no outdoor seating to take advantage of the lake view. There are 4 adirondack chairs looking at the lake and two ancient rocking chairs on the dock, which you get to by crossing railroad tracks...... that was definitely not included in any of the photos on the website! We will not be back and wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of much better options nearby.
