  The real deal

  My wife and two children traveled to Udon Thani in June and stayed at Gecko Villa. We were there to deliver school supplies to a village school nearby through Pack with a Purpose which recommended Gecko Villa. The villa itself is a wonderful, peaceful retreat located about 30 kms or so from the city of Udon Thani. The villa sits on a cassava farm surrounded by beautiful lush vegetation in extremely peaceful surroundings. The villa also has a wonderful refreshing pool overlooking the cassava fields and our children spent lots of time swimming and playing in the pool. The villa is has comfortable beds, AC, wifi and is beautifully decorated. It is perfect for people really looking to get away and to genuinely experience Northeast Thailand in a natural element. While staying at the villa Ten and his wife make sure you are well looked after and cared for. They are incredible Thai cooks and three fantastic meals per day are included as part of your stay. The food that we were served at Gecko villas was some of the most delicious food we had in our three week stay in country, they do it all: curry, rice dishes, noodles and they take requests! I can't say enough about the quality and freshness of the food which we were served. Similarly, I can't say enough about our hosts. Ten and his wife are polite, respectful of both needs and privacy and want to ensure that their guests are comfortable. Ten took time as our host each day to go on an outing. The outings included the Red Lotus Lake, Nong Khai and the Friendship Bridge, monkey park and the village school where he helped make arrangements for us to deliver the supplies we brought. Finally, we had no issues with transportation upon our arrival and all of the financial arrangements and pre-trip communication were well managed. If you are interested in a different, genuine Thai experience then I would strongly recommend Gecko Villa. It is the type of place and experience you will not soon forget and we are very thankful and grateful to Ten and his family for sharing it with us.

  A paradise in the north of Thailand

  Ten and his wife did everything to make our stay pleasant. The house is amazing and the surroundings nice and very authentic. We loved to stay in that nice house, with this gorgeous swimming pool. The activities we did during our stay were very interesting and Ten always took good care of us and showed what we chose form the available options. I would repeat tomorrow our stay in Gecko Villa, all was fantastic. We also enjoyed very much the delicious food Ten cooked for us.

  Patient butler welcoming guests to his rural homey estate

  The easy transaction of reservation. The outstanding organization. The very professional check in. These are just a few of many things you have to "ask" for in a luxury hotel or resort. At Gecko Villa this seems to be standard procedure. From driving to anywhere you want to every day superb quality attentive service, without intefering in any way in your own privacy...., that's what a king really wants. Well dear king ....I had it at Gecko Villa:) Just all day doing nothing but relax, eating delicious freshly prepared food at the time you want, taking time off for yourself. Being close to nature, peasants, villagers and real folks living a real life, what more would you want to searching for when you want to wind down from the hectic "normal" daily crazyness of today's wired schedule. Maybe it is not for anybody...but for me this was/is perfect. Take the bike and explore the neighborhood, get up early and take a trip to the lotus lake, or just sunbath in the hammok and cool down in the pool. Walk around the calm and interesting farmlands, open your eyes and listen carefully to the surroundings and take in the nature's sounds. I suggest to buy a few bottles of wine on the way, perhaps other things you may need, or you just ask your private driver/butler Ten, and he will bring to you everything your secret desire may crave for. Beer, tea /coffee and water is stocked well.

  A Gem - Perfect for Visit to the Red Lotus Sea

  Gecko Villa is a true gem of place to stay. The villa is quite large and lovely. It is very private. The hosts are delightful and patient. The food was delicious and there was more than we could eat! Staying here is perfect for a visit to the Red Lotus Sea because it is only a 5-10 minute drive to get there in the morning. Therefore, it's easy to catch a beautiful sunrise over the lotus flowers without having to wake up insanely early, which would be the case if you are staying in Udon Thani city. It's also a nice area to walk around and bike. (It's easy to bike to a nearby village to pick strawberries and enjoy the countryside with virtually no car traffic. With the delicious home-cooked food included, the price overall seems quite reasonable.

  Away from it all

  We stayed here for 7 nights earlier this month. We booked almost a year in advance and the correspondence between us and Charles beforehand, was excellent. The house is huge (especially when theres only 2 of you staying in it!) and is located in the middle of nowhere away from tourists, traffic and noise. Every day we sat looking out into the field whilst floating around in the very large pool dreaming away as it was so peaceful. We never tired of the view of the nature and the sounds of the crickets and monkeys in the distance. Tens food was outstanding, every night was a treat. The whole fish that Ten prepared during the middle of our stay was the best fish Ive ever eaten. Thank you Ten for feeding us with such delicious meals every day. Theres bikes at the property for you to go and explore around the empty roads and quiet villages which was the highlight of our stay. Driving freely around the roads waving and being waved at, by the lovely locals was just magical. We enjoyed every second of our stay at Gecko Villa and feel so lucky to have found such a beautiful destination away from everything and everyone. If you stay here, it is perfectly located near the Lotus Lake which Ten will happily drive you to. It is one of the prettiest sights I've seen and thoroughly recommend. Thank you Ten and family, for looking after us during our stay, we were sad we had to leave to go on to our next destination!
