  Excellent food

  Steak in Sizzlers (Gateway) will melt in your mouth. It tasted so well that I had to take time to eat it because of its delicacy. I recommend that place for those steak lovers. A great setting with pleasant atmosphere as well as excellent staffs.

  Unexpected Layover Stay

  My stay at the Gateway was unplanned, due to a flight cancellation. Found the hotel staff to be very friendly & welcoming. The room allocated to myself (I believe was run of house), was large, spacious and generally clean. I did notice a few small cockroaches in the room overnight - and if the hotel took the trouble to treat the hotel for pest infestation on a regular basis, this would resolve this little issue. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable with a good quality sleep, no noise. Restaurant was OK, basic food, but well prepared.

  Total disrespect for occupants

  Despite the hotel having less occupants as usual , when given an apartment for my 4 day stay, I was happy. That did not last long. With its own mini kitchen, it appeared as though it had never even has plates or cuttlery cleaned, lights didnt work, not even basic coffee or tea. I was placed next to another apartment ( there seems to be around 40) which decided to hold a get together for all of Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday. This noise and commotion went on continuosly. I tried to call reception... phone didnt work. I broke through the gathering to go to reception at 2am. no one around, not even a security guard, although there was a Security companies car parked there. At around 6:30 am on Sunday morning it went quiet so I thought I might actually get some sleep, Wrong.. it started ip again, this time with hotel helpers joining in. I went to reception again and told them what had been happening and the response I got was. "Sorry" I asked to change apartment or go to a room but was denied I have stayed in a few of the hotels in Port Morseby and have never experienced such total disrespect as a paying customer. NEVER NEVER NEVER stay at the Gateway hotel, and if you do be prepared.

  Comfortable with good facilities

  The Gateway Hotel is close to the airport and has an efficient shuttle service. Check in was very simple, and even offered very early. Small gift shops have done small PNG artefacts for sale, including some carvings and bilums (bags). In house bars and restaurants serve quality meals at reasonable prices. Small health spa on premises, but didn't try the services here. The hotel is quiet, not a lot of noise coming from outside. Clean, comfortable and convenient.

  An average Hotel

  In terms proximity to airport is good however the experience inside the hotel room isn't good. The Premiere King Room I styed was not properly maintined. Roaches sharing my hotel room. No slipper provided, tooth paste. Carpet was not properly cleaned with strong stinky smell which is disgusting and annoying when slepping. I requested for a spray but fix only last for 2 or 3 hours. Its only my 2nd day of stay out of 14 days! Therefore will suffer for the smell for the next 12 days.
