  Million dollar view

  We stayed in one of the family suites on the 4th floor and had a panoramic view or st gilgen and lake wolfgansee. The hotel was both charmingly historic and beautifully modern and updated. Everything was very clean. Dinner at the restaurant is delicious. The included breakfasts were good (not amazing); however the coffee machine produced fantastic beverages. The location is ideal both for its beauty and convenience. I wish I could pick up and move to this town!

  Stay in a Bit of History

  Great historical hotel in center of St Gilgen. Rooms are nicely designed and updated, with some that have balcony views of city. Great breakfast buffet. Very helpful staff. We loved our time at Gasthof zur Post and highly recommend it !

  The best of Austrian cuisine and hospitality

  The Gasthof zur Post was the highlight of my time in St. Gilgen. The service was timely and attentive and the food was excellent. They had plenty of vegan/vegetarian options as well so there is really something for the whole family. The restaurant itself is cosy and beautiful. Strongly recommend!

  Kaisserschmarrn is absolutely to die for

  My wife and I spent 2 days of our honeymoon in St. Gilgen at Hotel Schernthaner then ate at Gasthof zur Post for dinner one night. We got 2 courses, desert, and drinks. The waiters spoke much better English than I did German which was helpful. For desert we chose the Kaisserschmarrn (hope I spelled that right) and it is the most amazing desert I've eaten my whole life. It had a sweetness I feel I've never tasted before. Every bite was so heavenly; I wish it wouldn't end. St. Gilgen is at the top of the list of places to visit again in Europe.

  Lovely hotel

  We stayed here recently for two nights. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a small balcony. They have a small elevator available. The hotel is situated nicely for walking around the town of St, Gilgen, and not too far from Salzburg if you feel like going there. There is a small parking lot out back if you arrive by car. We had a car and this was a good base for driving around and exploring the area (and it is so beautiful!). The breakfast had a good selection of foods. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and it was quite as wel. The staff was always friendly.
