  New Years Day Meal

  Called into Hotel after a long New Years Day walk. Lovely meal served quickly. Very good choice of food on menu and also has a restaurant. Building has character and is close to the centre of the town. Would be a nice place to stay for a few days.

  Lovely lunch in the garden

  We had a great lunch recently in the beer garden of the Gaskell Arms. I had the salmon which was delicious and my husband had the fish and chips equally good. Its a shame you cant see the garden from the road as it is a pleasant place for a nice drink or meal. Glad we found it on our few day break in Shropshire. A lovely well cared for traditional country inn. Thanks to all the staff.

  Cosy and comfortable

  I would definitely recommend a stay at the Gaskell Arms. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend eating in the restaurant, you'll be spoilt for choice! The only criticism would be that the rooms are a little cold due to the old windows but it's to be expected with such an old building.

  Two sandwiches £13.94 rip off

  Ordered two ham sandwiches after a good walk in the countryside with friends. When the sandwiches appeared I thought it was a joke. I was sure they were leftovers from the local vicar's tea party , the bread was very thin sliced ,one thin piece of ham,one sixth of a tomato,a few lettuce and rocket leaves , thin slice of onion and a dressing . Needless to say I was not impressed, I should have refused or complained ,however, my friend said this was the only pub open in the village at the (1330) the saving factor was the beer was good. Make sure you have eaten before ordering and sandwiches.

  Good food

  We stayed at the Gaskell Arms for 2 nights in one of the Mews cottages. The Downstairs room was a lovely area to relax, with the bedroom upstairs. Very clean and comfortable. The staff and the Chef were Very welcoming and the food was very good with a good choice. The fish particularly was excellent. Good breakfast each morning. Good bar and log burner, very cosy,
