DO NOT Stay Here !!Stayed with with hubby in October for 5 days. The rate was good eventhough it was Expo time. Paid about $90/night. You really get what you paid for although you can splurge just a little more and stay at somewhere else alot nicer. Hotel is on bar street if you that environment at night. Line 1 Hengshen road is open so that is about the only good thing about this hotel. Room was ok, bed was comfy not the traditional chinese hard bed. Bathroom was ok although a couple of nights, we did smell sewer that prevented us from sleeping. And not sure if it is a non-smoking hotel but we did smell smoke in the hallway all the time. That was really bad!! Also room was not noise proof so you can hear everything in the hallway. Also not good. Breakfast was really bad!! The reestaurant was dirty, food not catered towards westerners at all. OVerall, if you are used to western standard, do not stay here.

MixedGood - location, room design and furniture. Room rates - from 388-588RMB. Not so good - there really is no service from the front desk and English is minimal - you will need to communicate in Chinese. You may interrupt front desk staff smoking or sleeping, so please be aware that you might be considered a bit of an intrusion. No internet in rooms - apparently problem is my computer which works in the other hotels I stay at for 200 nights a year.

Great location for nightlifeSmack in the middle of the bar scene on Hengshan Road, this hotel has character and is a good value. I could hear loud music from the bar next door, but when I complained they upgraded me to a larger and very quiet room.

Old World Shanghai Charm in a Great LocationReally feel like I made a great find with this one. The location is right on Hengshen Lu, right in the middle of the party and restaurant scene, less than two blocks from many choices, as well as a starbucks. The room was a pleasant surprise with a really large balcony, a nice sized room, and some really nice touches of older Chinese style furnishings. The bathroom, while quite small, was nicely updated. The only real downside is the front desk has limited English, and in the early morning / late night is either missing or asleep. I didn't need much from them, so it didn't really effect me. The other issue is that I never did get my 3rd floor wifi to work, but I managed around it, as I was overall quite happy with the room...

Value for money city hotelThis boutique hotel/ guest house is located in a great city area- French concession. The subway is just a doorstep away and so are little boutiques, bars and cafés. If you like a bit of Chinese flair in your bedroom and want to be at an easy accessible area this is your place to stay. Make sure you book a room with a window!
