    Buena atención

Atención fantástica del personal del hotel. Relación calidad-precio buena para los precios que tiene Noruega. Desayuno buffet con variedad y buena calidad. Nos guiaron con lo que ver por los alrededores.

    Susan - Business Traveller

Staff were pleasant and hotel in good location for train station. Room was very dark and not great for working in the hotel, could do with better lighting and a decent chair to sit on when working in the hotel. Food was a little disappointing.

Perfectly decent hotel with great location

This hotel is in a very central location in Sandnes. Close to restaurants. Very cozy hotel in general. Good service. Food is good, but nothing very special. Rooms are not great for working in if you are a business traveler, unless you are one of those hippies who can work sitting in a lotus position in bed. All in all a nice place to stay. Very pleasant staff.

Thumbs up. Nice place to stay

+ Nice rooms, service friendly staff, charming building, top location either you are on a family holiday or just out to have a good time. - Some noise due to near by railroad, public parking. Visit! All in all;Value for money

    Cozy hotel, central location

This review is based on a two night stay in a historic room (104) on the second floor. - Which we found a bit weird, by the way. We'd thought the numbering should be in the 200s for the second floor, 300s for third, and so on? Anyway. First, a somewhat peculiar story from when we booked our room. I called the hotel to book a room, and heard that they only had a regular room available (as in not a historic one), and two nights would be 2990,- NOK. My girlfriend had at the same time been to the hotel's web pages, and had seen a same size historic room there, available and for 2331,- NOK for two nights. So I called them up again, and was then told that the higher price at first was because I had booked per phone? Anyway - there was no problem booking the historic room then, at the price we had found online. Just a bit... peculiar. When we arrived, having never been to Sandnes, we asked about the parking situation, since I had read online that the hotel has its own parking lot (which was evidently false information). I was told I could park in the streets of Sandnes. It was said with a smile, but the kind of professional, stern smile where you feel a cold shiver down your spine at the same time - like I was stupid for asking. After looking around a bit (not knowing the place), we ended up at a parking lot where we could park for the duration of our stay. All other parking spaces we saw said maximum 1 or 2 hours parking. Parking was 289,- NOK total for two days. We could possibly have parked for cheaper, but again - we don't know the place. So - off to a not so good start, then. But it thankfully improved. Location is great. A very short walk to the train station, and buses and taxis are also nearby. You're in the middle of the city, with the shopping street close by as well. The hotel is supposed to be an old pottery, so there are some genuine artifacts here and there, from potteries which were abundant in this city many many years ago. We later learned from someone in-the-know that this exact building never actually was a pottery, and that the original Gamlaværket had been a couple hundred meters away (or so we were told). Even so, the hotel is cozy and charming in its own right. Overall, the historic authenticity seemed a bit haphazard, like old, genuine items had been thrown in as part of the design, and not because they had been there originally. Which also turned out to be true in most cases. But it helps the atmosphere. It should be mentioned - but you probably know already - that the hotel also has newer, modern rooms. Our room was OK. There is no air conditioning, but a large ceiling fan and an additional floor standing fan. The window faced the bar area, and not the Langgata street, as the info says all historic rooms do. Thankfully the bar area closes relatively early in the evening, so there wasn't much noise from there at night, as we had feared. As others have mentioned, there is quite the amount of squeaking in the floor boards in the hall outside the room (and in the room), but we didn't really react negatively to it, as that's the sort of thing you have to expect in a building like this. One major positive thing I should mention before any other, is the kitchen. The food here is really excellent, at least everything we had for dinner. Oh, and try the chocolate marquise desert - it's out of this world! The breakfast on the other hand was a bit of a let down, but mostly due to Covid-19 restrictions. It seemed a bit haphazard though, where there were plates already filled with a few bread toppings (like cheese, ham, salami, a slice of tomato and cucumber) and wrapped in plastic foil, but then at the same time we all had to cut the bread holding the same knife, and the same utensils for some other things, like yoghurt and toppings for the yoghurt. I guess we're all learning to cope with this thing though, as we go. Hand sanitizer was available. The staff seemed a bit cold at first, with as I mentioned professional smiles, but this also improved. They seemed a bit stressed at times, perhaps that was it. Understaffed perhaps? "Charming" is key at this hotel, but not everything in a hotel like this can be crossed off as "charm" - if something is worn out or dirty, it's not charming, it's just worn out or dirty, and should be fixed/cleaned. The cold water tap on the sink in our bathroom didn't work. We told the staff, but it wasn't fixed during our stay. We had to have a bottle of water to brush our teeth instead. There were a few details like this especially in the bathroom that were just signs of wear and tear, and not charm. Very good water pressure in the shower, though! I have to stress this, as it's almost never the case in hotels! The bed was nice and comfy, and in our experience, the room was clean (with a couple of tiny exceptions). The wardrobe - to be honest - seemed to be an old IKEA, which was put together in a hurry, from the looks of it, especially on the inside. There is a flat screen TV, a desk with an office chair, a comfy chair, night side tables, another desk, a dustbin, some old photographs on the walls, and a full size mirror. There is also a water heater and complimentary tea and (instant) coffee. No safe, no minibar, no ironing iron. The bathroom has a hairdryer. There's a bakery in the building, and a very nice sitting area nearby it. The lounge / reception / bar area is also very nice. Note: remember to say that you are staying in the hotel, when you order something to eat within the hotel building - this goes for the bakery as well. Because you will get a discount, or at least they'll remove the price of tea and coffee. I've been a bit critical here, but overall it was a pleasant stay, so I would recommend it to others who are planning a stay in Sandnes.
