  Great hotel, free parking, huge breakfast

  Location: 10 minutes walk from the central square of Wernigerode. Overlooks the castle. Located in historical half timer house on the street with medieval houses. Looks really cozy and nice. Free parking available on site, which is super convenient. The rooms and the hotel are in very good condition, furniture is new and nice, everything works properly. There is a mini bar in the room. The breakfast has a huge selection of everything - sweet and salty. Buffet style.

  Nice hotel in charming Wernigerode

  On our way home from Italy, our last stop before home in Denmark was in Wernigerode. The hotel is quite beautiful and our room was very nice and quiet. Breakfast was good, and the hotel is located within walking distance from the Market Square where we found a very good restaurant, Gotisches Haus, for dinner.

  Excellent value for money

  Me and two colleagues stayed here for a business trip. Given the location with the market square within walking distance, this place was still quiet enough to have a good nights sleep. I received the smallest room of us three, which was still large enough in my opinion. Apparentlly the rooms with a balcony offer more space, and the balcony comes handy if you're a smoker. Granted , the rooms themselves are non-smoker-rooms. Included in the room rate is usage of the wellness area and one filling of the minibar. The wellness area includes one sauna and one steam bath with different showers and a relax area. Certainly not too fancy, but very good in its simplicity - keep in mind this is not a sports or spa hotel. Fragrances for the steam are available on request. The minibar offering might not seem too generous at first glance with a bottle of beer, coke and sparkling water each, plus a pack of peanuts. But in my opinion it's fully enough and a nice touch, especially since most hotels would charge about 10-15 for such an offering. Breakfast - as others have already mentioned - is an outstanding offering. Different types of bread and rolls, including fantastic croissants; several meat and cheese cold cuts, meatballs (some of them spicy), eggs, cereals, and varieties of yoghurt with fruit. Service was very friendly throughout the whole stay and helpful when we asked for directions. Overall, we had a memorable stay and wouldn't hesitate to return to this place.

  Amazing breakfast!

  We stayed here 2 nights while in the Harz mountain area, a popular choice when visiting this region. The hotel was fairly empty, as we were visiting before the main tourist season. It's a 5-10 min walk into town. We had a double room and a single room. Double room fairly spacious and well appointed, with a view of the castle. Single room with only a skylight. We were offered use of the sauna, but didn't take up the offer. The breakfast room on the lower level was beautiful and the buffet spread was fantastic! Eggs cooked to order are also available. Our best breakfast in the 5 days in Germany. Good size car park. There is a lift to the upper floors, but believe there is not one to the breakfast room (we didn't see one), which was accessed down a few steps.

  Friendly Family Hotel

  Stayed here for two nights. Room was very clean and the inclusive breakfast excellent with a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, eggs and cereal. No A/C but was able to open the windows and it cooled down during the night despite very hot days. Car parking is free but limited and it is about 10 minutes walk to the restaurants in the old town. Wifi internet good and reliable but there are limited wall sockets in the room for charging devices due to the older style nature of the hotel. There is an elevator for access to upper floors. Great location for exploring the Harz region.
