  Muy cómodo

  Funky Box Hostel está muy bien situado, cuenta con muy buenas instalaciones, tanto para dormir como las zonas comunes. Todo está muy cuidado y muy limpio. Las comidas que preparan están buenísimas (especial mención a la hamburguesa vegetal) y tienen un amplio surtido de cervezas. Te sientes muy bien acogido por los dueños

  Great Hospitality, Clean Facilities

  Highly recommend staying. Great hospitality. Great service. Clean facilities. One of my favorite hostels on my trip in Thailand. Stumbled across this hostel crossing in from Laos. Dorm beds were around 100 baht. Beds and bathrooms are very clean. The reason to stay here is getting to know the owner (his name is "God", he's Thai). He's a really nice guy who is fun to grab a drink with at the bar. Highly encourage you to enter into a couple debates with him cuz he's sharp and funny as hell. Would highly recommend staying here.

  Alright Facilities But Lacking In The Customer Service Department

  Showed up there after a long boat ride from Laos extremely tired. Tried to check in but the workers were busy smoking and flirting with a female customer and completely ignored me. After five minutes I finally interrupted and they begrudgingly helped me check in. The dorm room had a security code (which anyone could remember as they likely don't change it), the beds were lumpy, and it leaked as a rain storm rolled through so I had to move from the top bunk to the bottom bunk to stay dry. Even at checkout I had problems with the workers. I guess they must be the owners, as any employee who acted like that would definitely get fired. The old European guy was particularly rude, caring more about his home-rolled cigarettes than anything I had to say... Maybe if I was a woman he would have paid more attention to me...

  Full of character

  We stayed at the funky box, like everyone else, before heading to the slow boat to Luang Prabang. Pretty much everyone that stays in Chiang Khong is here because they are on the way to Laos. We opted to travel to Laos on the more luxurious boat rather than the jammed packed cheap bus style option! ;-) because of this we found ourselves with a couple of days now in Chiang khong. But the hospitality of the owners at funky box made it worthwhile! They offered assistance with things to do. We did a trek/hike one day to secret waterfall. That was a great walk with lunch provided and another day one of the owners drove us to the national park with a kayak and fishing rod. We spent a couple of leisurely hours paddling the massive lake before the owner came back to pick us up. At night they do great home cooked meals. Belgium stew was great. So were the burgers! Actually so was the fish!! The bar was tendered by the other owner and both made the atmosphere in the bar at night a lot of fun. It was lively, they were interactive and everyone was having a good time. Rooms were clean. Bathroom basic but clean. Overall a great stay and worth spending an extra day or 2!

  Not My Cup Of Tea

  The roof leaked, the floor squeaked, and the mosquitos were something fierce. The location was ok at least and they did provide bikes, albeit terrible ones that I nearly wrecked myself on. There are other options in Chaing Khong, and I would go elsewhere if i were you!!!!
