Excellent hotel in a charming locationA great hotel, attentive staff, spacious rooms and well equipped. Excellent and varied breakfast. Great location next to the harbor. The hotel is within walking distance of a complex with fresh fish and seafood restaurants. Adjacent to the hotel is a games complex and shopping center. The hotel is highly recommended!

Worst hotel ever stayed inI believe this hotel may once have shone, not anymore. The location is nice, not wonderful, likely the best part of the experience. The whole hotel is tied and so are the staff... Reception was not an experience Id like to repeat. Had breakfast and lunch at the buffet, rate it as bad school camp food. Everything over cooked and then serve lukewarm. The towels were threadbare and bathroom lacked amenities. Internet runs at dialup speeds and extremely unreliable. Cant check out quickly enough, hope I never have to stay again.

Nice hotel with some peculiaritiesSpent three nights in this hotel. Location was close to destination from distance point of view and it was nice to try different hotel from Taipei Center for a while. Hotel is more like a resort and perhaps aimed for holiday groups than for business people. Rooms are cosy and the bed offered excellent relaxation to get sleep in the evening. Proximity to riverbank does not cause extra noise even the wind might get strong in November. Breakfast was ok, but I was expecting it to be a bit more from variety perspective on the basis on the price of the room. The bar in the lobby was great and during my visit or had excellent band playing nice classics. Pros: if you spend time in Tamsui, I believe that this place is a good starting point for that especially during peak season. Also, rooms are in nice condition and really quiet. Cons: a bit pricy and the area is a bit quiet for evening walks in the season. Then there is one but for business travellers: I have not received a breakdown of the invoice until today although asked several times after the trip from the hotel, and this really surprises me. Nor did I receive it when I checked out. A copy of the credit card receipt is hardly not enough for submitting post-trip travel invoices and creates extra trouble for traveller at least in my country. Not so much of trouble that could not be handled but I would have expected a bit better from the hotel for such matter. Unfortunately sometimes small things matter the most.

Best hotel in Tamsui - pros & cons of staying in this hotelPros: 1. Location - wonderful view of the sea, yachts, Lover's Bridge, etc and it's the only hotel along Fisherman's wharf. Tamsui MRT subway was at least another 10 minutes cab ride to this hotel, but apparently that's changing soon as a new subway station near this hotel is opening soon. 2. Fullon hotel - a locally well-known luxury hotel brand with overall good quality rooms, staff, kids' club, etc. Not many restaurants in the hotel but the dim sum restaurant was pretty good with a celebrated chef, albeit with slightly above average prices. 3. Rooms - family rooms with two king beds are spacious and comfortable and the above-mentioned great view of the wharf. Recommended for families with younger children who prefer to stay in the same room instead of in adjoining rooms. Cons: 1. Location - about 20 minutes subway plus 10 minutes cab ride from Tamsui station. Its rather out of the way location also means limited dining or shopping options. While waiting for our room to be ready, we finished lunch and exploring the hotel's kids'club and its rather vacant mall all in an hour. Not much to see. Boring. 2. Buffet breakfast - limited variety and rather low quality food for 3 days. Zero live stations. We saw the lack of guests (economy downturn?) and understood the chef was trying to limit wastage... but we had to beg the lady head chef to let us have a freshly cooked egg for our young kids instead of insisting we get one of the stale sunny-side-ups. And one of the cooks helped himself to the food while guests were still around. Not professional. 3. Shuttle bus service to Tamsui station - again, an issue to do with trying to conserve resources during the lull season - I can't believe we had to negotiate for more then 10 minutes with the booking lady on the time we wanted the shuttle bus, a supposedly half-hourly service available to all hotel guests. She simply didn't want to give us the timing requested because she was trying to pool us with other guests on a bus ONE HOUR LATER. No remorse nor apologies. Her overall attitude made me feel like negotiating at a night market stall and I can't believe it's from a staff at a 5-star hotel.

Comfortable stay and quiet place for familyTo be honest, I was pretty enjoyed my stay here and it made us feel very comfortable that we didnt want to leave our room. The hotel is a bit remote. So The kids enjoyed playing in the playroom, staff were friendly. Hotel prepared slippers and toothbrush for kids that im giving a thumb-up for being considerate. Room service was ok, food was not bad. The only thing we would say, maybe to train up the staff with basic English for communication.
