  dont bother!

  we stayed here because everything was booked in fukoka, there is nothing to see in this town plus the place is old, ugly and loud, there is a lot of hot action happening at night so people party late, lots of drunkens in this bar street, this plaçe is not worth the money, it is depressing. if you have to stay in this city spend lots of money in a high end hotel so you wong ever have to go out.

  You get what you pay for :)

  Stayed here because Fukuoka was too expensive. Kokura is 20 min on the Shinkansen from Hakara station. The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the station, so no need to take the Skytrain. The staff is extremely friendly and had a great time hanging out with them. The female dormitory is clean, but the bed is not very comfortable. There is a free washing machine and a big kitchen. Would come again :) very good value for money!

  Stereotypical hostel, in a good wah

  Comfortable beds, secure, nice shower and bathroom, nice lounge, friendly staff, good kitchen area. Although Kokura isn't terribly exciting, I still enjoyed my stay here used it as a layover between Hiroshima and Fukuoka (I saved $40 by not taking a Shinkansen train).

  Only good for a 1 night stay

  I stayed here for 1 night in a female dorm. Pros: You get a private locker to store your personal belongings and the bathroom and showers were clean. Cons: -Wifi was poor and kept dropping out -Overall cleanliness was poor. The carpet felt dirty and dusty. The hostel is located in an apartment building and there was other people's stuff everywhere and was very cluttered. -The area at night can be a little dangerous, It's in a red light district (a lot of bars, drunk people and clubs around) -No luggage storage (if you want to keep your luggage at the hostel prior to checking in and checking out, you just keep it in the communal living-unlocked and unattended). Would not recommend this hostel unless you are just here for a quick stay and cheap place to sleep.

  It was Home

  I loved everything about the guest house. Our own lockers and storage were perfect, the living room was so homey it felt like a living room. People were nice and spoke Japanese as well as English. I came to japan looking for a full, immersive experience and this was the perfect place. Fun location next to markets, bars, food, close to Kokura castle and the river walk. To me, its a better way to experience japan instead of a hostel where everyone only speaks English, and you might forget youre traveling in another country. I loved it, for me it was home.
