  Average place to stay in Kaliurang

  I stayed one night here during my trip to Kaliurang last March. Fuji Villa was quite your average place to stay in highlands. They have no air conditioning, assuming that the ambient temperature was already cold enough, which is true. The atmosphere around is great for relaxing as you can find it pretty quiet. They don't have hot water ready for baths, you have to ask their staffs first. When serving breakfast, the staffs seems to have no idea that we were out on a Lava tour, so they put our breakfast outside the room.. Left it out there until we were back in hotel in the afternoon. Hotel staffs are pretty hard to find, they don't have one on stand by in the reception so we have to look around first. This happened in the afternoon during our checkout. Overall, average overnight stay experience.

  Nice staff, great view over Merapi mountain, good service

  We spent 1 night in Fuji Villa Hotel. We were welcomed friendly by the staff and enjoyed a beautiful room with hot shower. Unfortunately the free shuttle service to Yogyakarta was not available, however the hostess arranged a private driver for us to make a tour to Borbodur, Yogyakarta and Prambanan for a reasonable price. If you like to spent a night away from the crowded city then this is the perfect place. The hostess offered to pay the ride to the trainstation when we checked out since the free shuttle service was not available. We enjoyed staying here!

  A simple shangrilla

  it is not quite easy to find this hotel. Even a taxi driver doesn't know where the place is. However the staff is very friendly and helpful to guide me to reach the place. The rooms is quite big. The environment is also soothing as it is quite far away from the crowd. We have to walk a bit uphill to the center of the town to look for the food. Hot water is not ready to use, we have to inform first what time we want to have a shower. And they boil the water with firewood, so you got to be patient to wait

  Great stay! Quiet and peaceful!

  The staff (one person) was very kind. Gave us a tourist map, and off we went to explore. Location was hard to find for our taxi driver from Yogyakarta (so have your directions ready.) We went during middle of the week in August so the whole of Kaliurang is pretty quiet and everything seemed closed (except for Jeeps roaring up the streets). Felt very low-key, so for us: EXCELLENT. We got one of the superior room (ours was called Momiji, I think) Very nice, very quiet. Had no issues with hot water, was told its on now. My guidebook mentioned free shuttles and bikes for guests. I asked, but that's not a thing they have anymore[?] (My Bahasa is no good, and the staff's English is passable.) All in all, it's a great place to escape the bustle of Yogyakarta for a little and take in some nature in a smaller town/village.

  Absolutely lovely staff in a unique setting

  Super cute bungalows at the foot of the volcano! Overall the place could use an update, but it was clean and well appointed. Even had a DVD player with old obscure movies. Staff always kept me comfortable with hot water, breakfast, and even did my laundry and offered their personal scooter to me. I was there alone most of the time and lived it! Also great Wi-Fi for me to get work done.
