  Un hermoso lugar lejos del ruido...

  Este pequeño hotel ubicado en medio de la naturaleza, es un excelente lugar de vacaciones familiar, sus instalaciones son muy comodas y bien mantenidas. Mis favoritos son sus salones de comienzos de siglo restaurados y bellamente decorados . Muchos bosquess y un lago rodean sus instalaciones . El servicio es muy bueno , con caracter familiar .Ademas para los amantes del golf su campo es excelente . Por todas estas razones es que viajamos todos los veranos alla , yo hace 6 años y mi pareja 25 años.

  Great family hotel when visiting Astrid Lindgren World

  We stayed at Fredensborgs Herrgard for two nights as a basis to visit Astrid Lindgrens World. The hotel is situated between a golf course and a beautiful lake around 10km south of Vimmerby. Various amenities for children are offered such as billiards, darts, mini golf, sandbox, etc. Yet, the best part is the surroundings in particular the hotels own jetty with a small house including sauna. The lake is a paradise to swim and cool off after a hot day. You can also take the rowing boat and just enjoy the beautiful landscape. The breakfast buffet was diverse and tasty. Very friendly staff. The rooms are rather small and well-kept. Perfect place to relax for a few days.

  Pleasant hotel - with a lake with sauna. Magic.

  We stayed here in July to visit Astrid Lindgrens värld with our 2 kids. The rooms are not very big, but nice. The breakfast buffet is great with lots of different things to choose from. On the other side, in the evening the restaurant service wasn't really top notch. It felt a bit like they were unused to so many guests during peak season. BUT - the surroundings, with a big park like garden and a lake with a sauna are outstanding, After a long day at Astrid Lindgrens värld, we strolled down to the lake and dove into the lake (22 degrees). After a while in the water, you can warm up in the sauna, maybe relax with a beer.... absolutely outstanding.

  Amazing surroundings

  The best with Fredensborgs is definitely the location. It is very practical if one is visiting Vimmerby/Astrid Lindgren's World and it offers a package for that as well. The price is more affordable than the possibilities offered by Astrid Lindgren's world anyway. The place offers possibilities for everyone, not just kids families. There is for example, also a golf course. Kids are spoiled by the enormous garden/small woods, the playground, minigolf and especially, the lake. There is a beach with shallow waters, where kids really can enjoying swimming or just dipping their feet. The lake has clean water and in a warm day, as we have experienced, it is quite refreshing but not too icey. The herrgård is very beautiful, with a tower and quite well preserved interior. We didn't explore too much of the building, though. The hotel experience is though average. The rooms are dislocate din some form of barracks on the side of the herrgård. That wing is very boring and a bit outdated. The room is very tiny. It works for four people if it is not too warm and one is staying just one night. There is barely place to put one owns belonging. The bathroom is very simple, lacking a bit of surfaces where to put things. There was a quite good set of towels available to use. The room was anyway quite clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was nothing incredible. There was a quite good choice of typical scandinavian breakfast items, quite fresh and some interesting items. The warm dishes (scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages) were not the stars of the buffet. A bit boring with just regular coffee and fresher juices would have been appreciated. (they were at least presented in a nice way). It would be nice with something that would cover the taste of also the foreigners guests. All together, a very nice experience, especially for the kids.

  Great amenities but lack lustre restaurant

  We stayed here for a night and also ate in the restaurant. The hotel is really utilised by over-spill from Astrid Lindgrens Warld and nowadays it seems to almost entirely cater towards larger family groups with young children. The rooms are functional, clean, modern and simple. The restaurant has changed a good deal since out last visit two to three years ago. The menu has been stripped back and is over minimalist; 1 starter, 3 mains, 1 dessert are the limited choices. One of the mains is a burger. The food is reasonable standard. The service is not brilliant, although friendly and well intention it is poorly managed. There is long pauses between courses and it was impossible to get attention. If you are looking for a finer dining experience go elsewhere. The main attraction is the amenities, gold course, driving range a small lake and plenty of other things to do (pool table, outdoor chess etc).
