  Old, like we went back in time

  One great advantage of this hotel is its location - close to the railway station and to the Old Town. Grenoble is generally a nice place to walk around, plenty of little shops and bars/bistros in those narrow side streets. It feels like you go back to the '60s when you enter the hotel - dated decor, dark corridors, carpets on floors, spiral staircase and a key with a key chain that weighs a pound, I think :) The room was nothing special, we got one by the street so the noise woke us up in the morning. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, TV had quite a few channels working. Housekeeping around noon, breakfast (a piece of bread, croissant, butter, very sweet marmalade and coffee/tea/chocolate) for 7 euros. Overall, a place with an esoteric atmosphere, I'd say, not good if you're looking for something fancy, little overpriced for what you get but with very nice staff that speaks English.

  "Where the dog is King"

  If you do not care for dogs, this is not the hotel for you. A large one patrols the reception area for most of the day, and barks at new arrivals before revealing a more friendly side to his character. A small one occupies a breakfast table (yes, he sits on it), looking out the window and barking at passers-by. Despite these quirks, Touring is a charming hotel which, unlike its resident canines, is part of a dying breed. Furnishings are old-school, and there are rooms in which smoking is permitted. This hotel unashamedly makes no effort to adapt to modern notions of what a hotel should be, so if you're looking for a spotlessly clean, non-smoking, English-speaking, technologically advanced hotel, you should stay elsewhere. Location is excellent, near the main station and town centre. Outside is noisy, and there was no air-conditioning that I could see, so staying here during Grenoble's notoriously sticky summers is not recommended. Staff are charming. Beds are comfortable, and wifi of reasonable quality is included. Breakfast is meager (extra 7 per breakfast per person), so if you have time, there are many places nearby in which you can get a better one. I was there on business for two nights, and my bill was 140 including two breakfasts (14) and the annoying local tax (1-2). Overall, I would say it was reasonable value, but if you're on holiday and you have money, you should try for something more upmarket.

  ONCE UPON A TIME

  must have been a great place once upon a time in good old days ! It still is probably one of the best located places in the Centre of Grenoble. The Old city looks beautiful with the streets and avenues still wearing the old classy look. The Hotel is just basic but clean the biggest advantage is the Tram station just outside its Main Door and walking distance from nearly everything. The Rooms are just enough to to spend the night. I tip is that ask for the rooms facing the Main Avenue

  old school hotel

  We stayed here for one night.Basic but clean accommodation.This is an old hotel and is a classic.The room we had on the 4th floor was quiet.The bed was cotton bedding and very comfy.The bathroom was roomy and airy.The view out of the bathroom window was exciting.The snow topped mountains towering over the city and the wonderful street below.We didnt have time to sample breakfast.

  This is a two star hotel Location is nice Next to the tram station Not very well maintained Not very clean But it is very reasonably priced If you think hotel is a place I only go to sleep, then you can choose this hotel.
