Good for a short business trip

Unison Inn is a brand new property located in the west side of Morioka. All the restaurants are on the east. But then it is only a short walk from Unizo Inn. I stayed here form4 nights while on a business trip. The check in was smooth. My room was on the 6th floor. The room was spotlessly clean. Very basic amenities in the room. This was probably the smallest room that I have ever stayed in. The bathroom is more like the one on an airplane. Too small even for a lean person like me. My stay included breakfast. This is served in their cafe Nagahama Coffee on the second floor. The breakfast is a fixed set menu stuff. For a vegetarian like me that leaves with only a small bowl of salad, a tiny piece of fruit and One slice of toast with butter! Coffee and juice to wash it all down. The breakfast could hardly keep me going for more than an hour and so I ended up buying some fruits to fill me up. The staff were extremely polite and friendly as one would expect in Japan. Overall, recommended stay for short business stays.

Hotel provides the basics and the location is close the train station

Location: The hotel is in walking distance of JR Morika Station. BUT it is on the wrong side; away from the city center. There are (so far) no restaurants and bars around it, and at the evening therefore there is no place for dinner next to the hotel. The hotel: I would classify the Unizo Inn a low bud business hotel with a functional room design and now extras. The hotel is reduced to the functions of sleeping, having a hot shower and a simple breakfast in the morning before checking out. The staff is (like always in Japan) kind and professional. The room: The room is very simple. There is a room with a bed and a tiny desk. The bathroom is one of this typical cubicle. The room looked and felt a little bit cheap/low budget like a dorm room. BUT putting the room rate into account it is a fair deal: The room is functional, clean and has a reasonable size. Breakfast: is provided by a small cafe that is located in the hotel building. There is no buffet and there is no menu. You get scrambled egg, bacon, toast, salad and coffee (with free refill) BUT I really liked. It is simple, tasty and I realized, that I don't need a big, overprized buffet to start the day. just bacon, eggs and coffee. Mission accomplished. Note: Before I stayed at the Unizo Inn I stayed at the Sendai Metropolitan for more than three times the room rate. My judgment maybe biased ... The overall rating is somewhere between three and four points. Because of the location next to the train station it ideal as a basecamp for daytrips to Kakunodate, Kitkami, Hirosaki, ... I decided to round it up a final verdict of 4 points.

    Noisy, smelly and uncomfortable

We had one night here and it was awful. You can hear everything in the room next door. The rooms are small even by Japanese standards and the pillows and beds are uncomfortable. Very unusual bathroom and only one towel provided for drying hands and showering

Excellent Location, But What's With the DIY WLAN Connector/Cables?

Friendly, helpful staff. Good location, a few minutes walk from JR bus/train station. But on checking in at 15:00 I was handed a ziploc bag containing Ethernet cables, WLAN connector, several sets of instructions (see photo) to set up my WiFi System in my Room #603. Took a good hour to get the WiFi up and running, not helped by being given the wrong password/server, so beware if tech issues are not your thing. Room a bit disappointing: poor lighting options, a bit cramped, particularly the bathroom. And really, how about an electric kettle?

    Hotel next to train station

Nice hotel, close to train station just a 2 mins walk to the train station and about 4-5mins walk to city. Very clean room. Friendly staff, very helpful. We are here during typhoon. But everything is safe. But the room is quite small
