  A Perfect Stay

  We did a self-drive trip in South Africa and stayed at the Founder's Lodge in Shamwari Game Reserve. The Lodge used to be a private home and has 6 guest rooms. The staff and guides were excellent. Food was great! They were always surprising us with something special- lunch on the patio, dinner in the library, etc. On our last night they decorated our room while we had dinner. The game drives were great. Our guide added so much to our experience. I've been on Safari in South Africa before and this was a wonderful experience. Big Five and more. I'd love to go back with a group of 12 and take over the whole place!

  Game viewing week breakaway

  We have a most pleasurable stay. The atmosphere was a homely one at the lodge and the facilities were excellent. The service was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Cuisine was delicious and varied. Animal sightings were really special and with the knowledgeable ranger who did everything he could to show us as much as was humanly possible. In summary we had an excellent stay all-round and would definitely recommend this lodge.

  Family weekend away

  Founders Lodge is a beautiful location with many activities for family fun and quiet reflection. We stayed at Founders Lodge for 2 evenings and enjoyed great game drives with Skhumbuzo and superb hospitality from Craig and Glynis Turner and the team. After stunning sightings of the Big 5 we relaxed in the pool and the lounge. The food was delicious with a special South African braai evening on the final evening. Founders Lodge is a MUST for any tourist!

  The trip of a lifetime

  When you venture into Shamwari you already suspect you are entering a magical place. However, as we entered Founders Lodge, we were blown away by the little piece of paradise in the middle of the game reserve. We spent 3 days at Founders Lodge and every day the bar was set even higher by the staff. We were welcomed every time when we came back from a drive, with a welcome drink and enthusiastic spirits to share our adventures. But what really blew us away is the love for wildlife, history and for hospitality that Glennis, Craig, Simone (guide), Mandlla and everyone else showed. The rooms are big, clean, and have everything you wish for, with a view to the reserve that inspires you to the core. Without exaggeration we can say that memories for a lifetime have been created due to the people at Founders. Every day they surprised us to make this happen. Its really special to spent time at Founders Lodge as its where it all began for Shamwari.

  Incredible luxurious experience while surrounded by nature and animals

  An absolute dream lodge with superb service. Incredible luxurious experience while surrounded by nature and beautiful animals. Everything was just perfect. The food was the best we had in South Africa, the freshness and some of the veggies came from the own garden and the eggs from their own chicken. The game drives were great with cute little picnics in between. The room has its own heated pool from where you can watch the stars at night. The spa has a bath tub outside where you can sit and see rhinos come and drink from the water spot in front of the lodge. I could go on and on but just go and explore with your own eyes. You will fall in love with the lodge just like we did
