    Restaurant disaster

    We where seated on a bench not even in the main restaurant with the chair for my partner facing a wall, there where other tables for 2 free in the restaurant but when requested to be seated there, was told the seats are allocated, after another go at complaining we where moved into the restaurant, sat on a table for 4, not very intimate but better than what could only be described as staff quarters! At the end of our meal we had to query the bill as it was £50 over, this was resolved, but again dont expect to be discussing deal details in front of other guest in the hotel! Im afraid breakfast the next day was a sham.. there where many tables complaining, we waited 40 mins for breakfast to arrive... in completely the wrong order, the cup of tea came last, there was no side plate to butter the toast so had to use a napkin! On checking out we where asked if everything was ok, I politely explained the issues we had incurred, I would have expected some sort of apology via email so I held off giving this review, but again find formby hall lacking, and the toiletries where not as described! Sorry formby hall you need to up your game

    Very disappointed

    Hi, I thought it was constructive to let you know about mine and my boyfriends recent experience at your hotel on 27-12-2020. I have to say for a 4 star hotel I am really disappointed in the service we received for both our evening meal and breakfast. This is not what I would have expected for a hotel of your standard. The evening meal was a shambles - there must have been around 3 people serving a full restaurant of customers. As a result our orders were not fulfilled and we had to wait a substantial amount of time for our food to arrive. My fillet steak arrived chargrilled on the outside and very cold in the middle, I had to wait 20 minutes after my steak had arrived for my chips. I feel it is not appropriate to serve a meal separate as this was not enjoyable. We asked to order 2 cocktails that never arrived and when we looked around the restaurant you could clearly see the waiters and waitresses were rushed off their feet due to the lack of staffing. The next morning we visited the restaurant again for breakfast and I have to say this was just as unenjoyable as the evening meal. My boyfriend was given a cup with a massive crack down the middle, we only realised this when we poured the hot tea and the tea leaked everywhere. Again we looked around to inform a staff member but no one was around for at least 10 minutes. Our breakfast order arrived wrong and we were not given our toast order - we had to ask, we couldnt wait any longer as our breakfast would have been cold. For an establishment that rates itself 4 stars this was very disappointing and I have to be honest this has put us off from returning again. Me and my boyfriend were visiting the hotel as we were very interested in having our wedding at your venue but after our experience I am very inclined to say it is only the grounds that is up to standard which was really upsetting. This was also a Christmas present for the both of us to enjoy and I felt it was not a pleasant experience.

    I would not recommend this hotel

    Our stay at the hotel was extremely disappointing. Firstly on arrival we struggled to get a swimming slot after several phone calls later we managed to get an hour slot not at our preferred him. We could not get a table in the restaurant even tho when we was in the restaurant around 530pm it was empty. We couldnt pre book any earlier as we could not book swimming until arrival therefore could not book the restaurant until we knew what time swimming was. The jacuzzi around the pool was not in use which is completely understandable. However this particular section was not sectioned of therefore leaving a massive hole in the ground which with a 2 year old and a 6 year old was extremely dangerous and a SERIOUS health and safety risk! The water of the pool was also cold. Breakfast this morning was extremely unorganised despite making a 930 am booking, we qued for at least 15 minutes to be seated. Waited 20 minutes for a poor latte! Breakfast then arrived another 40 minutes later minus my breakfast, everyone had them finished there breakfast and I was still waiting after asking two separate people where it was we left the restaurant.. (1hr 30 minute later). As you can imagine both children where extremely fed up with all the waiting around! I am aware a member of staff had an accident however the majority of this happened before hand. The breakfast food was poor expecially the scrambled egg and salty bacon! Finally after asking reception to make up the single bed and cot, which they did minus any blankets!!! It was late and the children where crying we then all had to sleep in the one bed. I understand it is a difficult time at the moment but I found the whole experience terrible. The hotel appears to be under staffed with unfriendly staff!

    Lovely hotel with great spa

    I am going to review the hotel separate to the restaurant as the hotel itself was lovely but our experience in the restaurant was shocking (I have done a separate review for that). We booked a deluxe room which was extremely spacious and comfortable, clean and came with a bottle of fizz, snacks, robes and slippers so worth the extra money. We also had spa treatments which were fantastic as well as enjoying the pool/sauna. Jake on reception was very welcoming and the front of desk manager also very helpful. We wont be returning based on the fact that the restaurant service is so poor which is a shame as the hotel itself and the spa facilities were excellent.

    Excellent spa

    Birthday treat, great spacious room following a nice upgrade. Customer service was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful with all questions and requests. Booked in to the Spa for head neck and shoulders massage, perfect and extremely relaxing excellent value for money.
