  Charming hotel, great food

  In a really nice spot next to a stream. The guest rooms are large and have all facilities and are quite functional. The hotel common areas are very nice and have some charming touches with traditional features. The restaurant is excellent. Breakfast very good too.

  The best Trouts...

  Its a typical Swabian restaurant, but has the best trouts in the whole region. The beef comes from a nearby farm which is quite popular. And the staff is very kind! The prices are quite fair with main dishes around 20. As soon as the weather is nice, it is highly recommended to book your table!

  Good location

  Good hotel to spend relaxing moments and enjoy good local cuisine. Room very clean, unfortunately without air conditioning, I stayed during very hot days and I suffered. We have greatly improved the restaurant specialties, many trout-dishes bred directly from the hotel. You can see also the castel. The staff is very friendly

  Slightly disappointing hotel

  Slightly disappointed that we booked this hotel. Hotel staff is very friendly, but the hotel itself has seen better days. In particular the room that we stayed in, although clean, was not very gemütlich at all, rather the opposite. Will find some alternative if visiting near Metzingen again.

  Scenic location, ducks a little loud.

  We stayed in the "comfort" level room in the older part of the hotel. The room was clean and very comfortable, and there was a balcony outside with a view of the Schloss Lichtenstein. The only negative about the room was that with the windows open, the ducks in the stream outside were quacking so loud my husband had trouble sleeping. The nearby stream with ducks and trout was beautiful, and there are lovely walking paths in the area. It is possible to walk to the source of the stream that runs alongside the hotel, and with much rain recently it was very interesting to see the strong current coming directly from the mountain. ONE WARNING: In the parking lot is a sign that says it is a 45-minute walk to Schloss Lichtenstein. It is obvious that the walk must be somewhat steep as the Schloss is high above on a cliff. However, the path to get there is very steep and rather dangerous. I do not recommend taking dogs or children on the path to the castle, and if you have any fear of heights the path is so narrow and slippery that you will not enjoy it in the least. Our room also was above the kitchen. Kitchen noise was not a problem but when the door on the second floor was open to the kitchen, the smell of cooking fish was strong in the stairwell. It was fine in the actual room.
