StopoverAnother couple and ourselves spent 2 nights at Ford House they were in the Jim Thorpe Suite and we were in the Delaporte Suite. We were greeted by a lovely lady who assisted us to our room. We did arrive a little late and she was very pleasant about it. The WAG Walters Emporium is very interesting as is the room that you have your breakfast in so is an enjoyable experience. However, we found it all a little tired and in need of some ground maintenance. Unfortunately, there were huge pot holes that needed attention outside our room which didnt make it very pleasant.

Comfortable place to stayI stayed 3 nights in the Green Room of the original Ford House (single room). While the room is small, it is comfortable and warm in winter. The room opens on a verandah/deck overlooking the garden. Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and loungeroom, all with fireplaces. It rained most of the weekend when I stayed and it was lovely to be able to relax and warm up next to the fire in the lounge, in big leather armchairs!!! There's also a full library with many books to read. Breakfast is served in the morning in the common room (home made bread and jams, bacon and eggs, muesli) and is very nice and copious. The breakfast room is an old barn filled with knick knacks and Xmas decorations; a good starting point for conversations with fellow guests. The whole place is full of little knick knacks so there is plenty to look at! Despite the rain I had an excellent stay and recommend this place to fellow travellers. I'll visit again in summer.

Quirky, Comfortable & Rustic - Will Be BackLocated near the railway track with native gardens to the river. Several types of accom on offer stayed a couple of nights in the Cooks Cottage. Spa bath & separate entry; quiet & secluded. B fast fresh cooked bacon & eggs served in one of the emporiums. You"ll find all manner of items for sale in one of the many out buildings. On-site massages offered. Lovely owner & happy staff.

Quaint, querky and quiet.Ford house has several styles of accomodation, from modern to historical. The older rooms are full of quaint pictures and objects from a bygone period. The shop has a variety of querky items for sale, from cups to garden ornaments. The whole facility is a quiet place next to the river and only a short walk to the main street shops and food outlets.
