UniqueFor a B&B with unlevel floors & a "Breakfast" merely heated up...2 o r 3 buns, I would still return if it wasn't so expensive because within the U - shaped builging is a gorgeous outdoor setting filled with nature's bests and neat tables with umbrellas. We will be staying this time at the beautiful Hilton near Brett's Waterway for less $ & have a room with 2 Queens & a kitchenette However, we will go there for a drink because the bar manager, Julie, is extremely personable, gregarious & totally upbeat. I recommend room 14 if you do not mind staurs, as there is no elevator, because I think it's there nicest room, However in June with taxes it was about $225 a night!. So, if you like the photos I posted, the atmosphere is very cool, go find breakfast out the front door , walk left and there's a terriffic cafe open until 3.

NopeStayed at Florida House mid-March for a girls weekend. I've stayed at a lot of B&Bs and this one is at the bottom of my list. The majority of the staff came across as a mix of apathetic and irritated. The only bright spot there was Ryan at the bar. He was personable and fun. We stayed in room 7 because it had two beds. We could tell by the picture that the room was small but what you can't see is that the bathroom is minuscule. Not enough room for two small toiletry bags, one had to be kept in the luggage. The rooms is in need of repairs and was not very clean. I lost an earring and when I looked under the bed there was a lot of dust and small bits of debris. The inn as a whole looked like it could use a good bit of care and maintenance. The "homecooked breakfast" consisted of biscuits, jams, instant oatmeal and pastries on a table in the breakfast room. I expected better since the Florida house has a restaurant. There is coffee and water in the lobby but in the morning when the coffee and water pitcher was empty, there was no where to get water to make more. In the evening the courtyard seems to serve as a seating extension for the bar next door. The band played until 10 and we could hear it very clearly in our room, so it didn't matter that we couldn't get a seat outside. On Sunday morning the inn was setting up for a brunch and we were shooed away. They seem to cater to the restaurant clientele over their inn guests.

Punitive policies- it's an unfair worldUnfortunately, I didn't get to stay at The Florida House Inn. I had booked a reservation through a 3rd party site. I didn't know it was non-refundable. I called 7/30 to cancel , reservation was for August 1. I called my booking site to get them to cancel. They stated, "No one is answering the phone". How convenient! I finally reached the front desk the next day. I cancelled my trip when Hurricane Isaias was bearing down AND Covid cases were increasing like crazy. Not exactly conducive to a fun vacy. I thought I would get a refund due to these extenuating circumstances that were beyond my control- But no. No grace allowed, no considering each case individually. Their policy is you must cancel one week in advance. So beware. Not 24 hours, one whole week! Seriously, who knows that far in advance? Especially when you are watching the track of a Hurricane and monitoring Covid cases! Also I'm told they may charge me a $35 no show fee for failure to check in even though I called and finally cancelled. I would like to visit the area soon. You can be sure I will not be staying at The Florida House Inn!

Fun and RelaxationSuch a disappointment! While the location was great, the amenities and service was horrible. Nothing like described. The office says its open til 5- we got there at 3:10 and it was closed Our room was right next to a very popular and loud bar with live music practically outside our door. I had ear plugs and could still hear it. This was never disclosed even though the hotel owner also owns the bar so he knows about the live music schedule. We had this for three nights. Later in our stay, even a staff member said that there should be a notice before people book one of these rooms. The first morning breakfast was supposed to be at 9. Another couple and us went to the dining area. It was dark and locked. About 9:10 we were both about to leave and Dana showed up and said the morning must have gotten away from her. Half the menu (of four items) wasnt available and we were not served until 10. After breakfast I let Dana know that we needed to be in Jax the next morning and wouldnt be there for breakfast. I asked if they could leave us something to grab on the way out , a bagel or muffin or something. She had to speak to chef and would call us to let us know. No call, no breakfast. We were looking forward to the Mermaid Bar being open on our last night here. At 5:00 when we went for a drink we were told it was closed for a private party. No mention before, even though we inquired. I know its a historic property but I would think most people would be disappointed in the bathroom accommodations. Our sink was literally no bigger than my hand. We were really looking forward to staying here but we wont return and caution others about the accommodations and service.

Fantastic experience! We live here and stay at a local historic inn on our anniversary weekend. Last night we stayed here, and it was amazing. The staff from top management to the food runner at breakfast were top shelf. I completely recommend this wonderful and historic inn.
