    It was ok, but...

We stayed there overnight last autumn. The rooms were small and cluttered. Seems like they just overfurnished it. The owner fellow would not go downstairs to reboot his router before retiring after I told him I had a couple hours of work to do. I had to use public broadband, so when it says they have WIFI, they mean at times as long as they don't have to go downstairs and reboot their router. It was fine in the morning after he rebooted it and I no longer needed it. It was quiet, nice sleep, comfortable bed, great breakfast. The lady of the house was a good conversationalist, she told me that it was her home when she was young and they came back and did this with it. The house was very clean. Free parking if you park on the street. Shared bathroom was something I knew about going in, so no big deal, but I still consider that a negative. The little corner shower stall was confining for me.

    Welcoming host

Room was small but clean and nicely kept with up to date amenities. We were only there for one night so the size didnt bother us. Breakfast and coffee in the morning were nice. Location was close to old port but not walking distance which was also good with us.

    Rocky check in

My wife and I wrote ahead to let the innkeeper know our approximate arrival time, but we never got a reply. We arrived at 3:30 PM, 30 minutes after our estimate and 30 minutes prior to the official check in time. We called and texted with no answer to inform the innkeeper of our arrival. Without any information about when we might check in, we went to Old Port for a bite. At 6:30 PM, still with no call back, we went back to the inn where it was still locked and dark. My wife checked under the mat, found a key, so in we went. The innkeeper finally arrived around 7:00 PM, without apology or explanation about the lack of contact. It was unsettling to say the least. Because the street is being torn up in front of the inn, no street parking was allowed, and the noise made it impossible to wait for any response on the lovely front porch. The room was nice and comfortable, with good linens and pillows. Breakfast was typical of many B&Bs, baked apple and French toast, and, while I'm more of an eggs for breakfast person, it was tasty. The shared bath was modern and roomy. I wish the inn had shared the fact of the street construction (which was clearly a days long process), as we might have booked something more quiet that didn't start up at 7:00 am.

Like staying with family!!! (The ones you like)

What a find! Linda was such a lovely host. Making the booking and the check in process was easy. The room and house was so thoughtfully decorated and the entire place was immaculately clean (super important these days!) but the cherry on top of the whole experience was a delicious home cooked breakfast in the morning. We felt very welcomed and wish we were staying longer.

Incredible stay, great food and company!

This bed and breakfast is absolutely amazing. Linda and Jim have been running it for 21 years and have a rich history of the house going back to 1850. Since the pandemic started, I've been trying to support as many family owned businesses as I can. You can make a reservation via their website, which was very easy to navigate. We arrived late and checked ourselves in as the owners had gone to bed, but our room was marked with a welcome note. Linda was very responsive over email and gave instructions on how to find our room and where to find towels and the bathroom. Although our room came with a shared bath, we were the only guests so didn't have to share. The room was warm and the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Clean towels are in the linen closet in the bathroom. We had breakfast at 9 and were blown away by the extravagant spread Linda prepared: good coffee, juice, banana nut bread, english muffins, fresh fruit, granola and yogurt, and deviled eggs! Wow. The real stars of the show are Linda and Jim - they are so kind and friendly, and a perfect example of Maine hospitality. We traded stories with Jim and got to know them a little bit, and spent some time petting the two cats as well. We only stayed one night but we'll be back soon. You just can't get this kind of experience at a hotel or Airbnb -- I cannot recommend Fleetwood House B&B enough!
