  Food is excellent.

  We booked a 5 night trip, half board. The food was excellent, 4 courses with a choice of 3 meat and 1 vegetarian meals. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choices. The hotel though is not situated in Baiersbronn (15 minute drive) but in Schönmünzach in the middle of a hamlet overlooking a small stream. Walking distance to the train station (free for tourists). Staff are really friendly. For a 4 star I would have liked a small fridge in the room.

  Better when it's cold.

  We booked the hotel for a short stay. In general it's a good hotel with friendly staff. We got one of the few small rooms located at the back of the hotel, with a tiny bathroom. Not what one would expect from a 4* hotel. Also it was hot outside and the room had no airco which resulted in sleepless nights. When we arrived, cleaning staff didn't even close the curtains to prevent the sun from heating up the room. The breakfast was very good, friendly people serving the meals. In the evening only once we had diner in the hotel. Though it was not bad, we enjoyed the other restaurants in other towns more. The hotel is located in Schonmunzach, not in Baiersbronn. So if you want to do something different from watching TV in the evening: take your car and travel to another town like Freudenstadt or Altensteig. We will visit the Schwarzwald region again, but we will not be staying in this hotel.

  A delightful three days

  We have just had a delightful three days at the Flair Hotel. Whilst the room was a bit shabby, that was easily made up for by the lovely balcony, the spacious room and the cosy beds. The breakfast was excellent with a great variety to choose from and the evening meal was of good quality - fresh and well presented. After a day of touring, we enjoyed returning to the hotel for a sauna and swim and we were always greeted by friendly staff.

  It all depends....

  I was lucky with my room on the upper floor facing the hill, but still light. The rooms on the lower floors facing that direction are quite dark. So go for a room facing the street - don't worry it is very quiet! As my fellow travelers reported, some rooms were a little run down.The breakfast buffet had a good selection and the food at dinner time was excellent. My biggest issue was the lack of reliable wifi and the lack of cell phone reception. It is great if you want and can go off "the grid", but unfortunately I had to stay in touch with family in the USA and that was really difficult.
