Awesome Location, Good Hotel But Pathetic Building

The Hotel is perfectly located right in the city center main road with excellent views, but to my surprise the Hotel is located only on the Fifth floor of an old building with pathetic old style lift. But once you enter the hotel the ambience changes. It's a small hotel with beautifully decorated neat room and not to forget the views they offer are unbeatable in this money. They do not give their own buffet and instead gave coupons which we can redeem in a restaurant near by. The lady at the restaurant served the buffet with very disrespecting attitute. Overall will only stay in the hotel again for view and its location.

    Ideal location

Situated in republic square with good access to all of Belgrade. The staff were very helpful and organised airport transfers at our request. Rooms were ok but there is a very small lift to the hotel which is situated on the 5th floor and the only stairway out was the fire escape and at the time we spent there 2 floors had lots of cardboard stored on it awaiting collection. We complained about the fire risk as this was the only place people could smoke in the building, Rubbish was removed later in the week. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room but the hotel only does B and B and breakfast is taken at a cafe around the corner from the hotel. Breakfast in this place consists of a dozen set meals and no deviation is allowed from these meals, for instance if you wanted eggs on toast which is not on the menu you can't have it. Rooms at the front of the hotel don't suffer air conditioning noise but at the back it is constant but you will get used to it. Situated opposite the opera house.

    Five Guys

First visit was in Maryland. Having eaten at a Five guy whenever one is located when traveling. Reason. Great food consistantly. Now luckly Five Guys is close to home. High quality burger and fries in a relaxed atmosphere. Too bad it's so expensive, the ol saying you get what you pay for definitely applies at Five Guys. So I go often as food quality is consistent always served by great staff.

Generally nice, but a mixed bag

I just returned from a 5-night stay at this property. I'd describe it as a mixed bag. Not sure of hotel rating criteria there--I'd hardly class this as 4*. On the positive side-- 1. There's no better a location in Belgrade--it's right on Republic Square--walking distance to just about everything of interest in Belgrade. Restaurants, shopping, money exchange--all abundant and within steps. 2. The staff were also courteous and helpful. 3. Room was neat and clean all the time. On the negative side-- 1. It's on the 5th floor of an old office building--had I not read about this in previous reviews, I'd never have known. Fortunately, the cabbie knew the place, and pointed it out to me from where he dropped me. 2. Two tiny elevators operate most of the time. When I checked out yesterday, only one was working. There is a staircase that wreaks of cigarette smoke. No smoking in the hotel proper--but the old building's staircase isn't part of the hotel. 3. Traveling solo, I needed only a single room. Not sure how many they have, but the one I got was a double sold as a single. Tiny room, occupied almost entirely by a double bed. There was perhaps half a meter on one side of the bed--the other side was firmly against a wall. There was a little table/desk with a mini-fridge under it, and beside it, a closet that included a safe. There was perhaps an 80cm passage between foot of bed and these two pieces of furniture. Only place to open a trolley was on the unused side of the double bed. I think they should have furnished this room (519) with a twin bed, and left a bit of room to move around. There was a bathroom with shower stall, and plenty of hot water. No ridge or rubber gasket under the shower door, so water flooded the entire bathroom floor. 4. Contrary to the TripAdvisor listing, there IS NO free breakfast UNLESS IT'S PAID FOR. That means IT ISN'T FREE! And it's not in-house at all, but at a coffee shop on ground floor of building. 5. In an email exchange just before my arrival, I asked if room had a pot for water and coffee-tea; I was told there would be a pot and tea. True to their word--a couple of tea bags and packets of sugar--but no coffee. I asked about coffee--nada; I asked about a bit of milk for the coffee--I was told there was a grocery a few doors up the street, How much would it have cost them to put a few instant coffee packets and a 500cc box of milk in the room? Pennies! I have deliberated whether to class it as 'average' or 'very good'--it's somewhere in between. Were I to return to Belgrade, would I also return to this hotel? Maybe.
