  Backed up drains forced us to move.

  We booked an apartment for a month in the vineyard to use as a base to see friends in the area. We have two young children of 3 and 1. The bathroom smelled of sewage from day 1 due to "black water" backing up into the shower and bidet; luckily we had 2 one bed apartments joined together so used the other bathroom, however the smell was terrible particularly in our children's room. We complained on day 4 and nothing was done about the drains until day 10 by which time we had threatened to move out; i won't say that the repair attempts were undertaken purely because we were looking to move, but timing was very coincidental. Day 10 and day 14 led to repairs however by then we decided to move anyway given that 10 out 14 days had been subject to the overpowering odor. We requested a partial refund for services not enjoyed, but management thus far have been unable or unwilling to see our point of view. We have never taken such action before with accommodation ie moving out and we are well traveled Europe, USA, Asia and Africa. In addition, the website is misleading in at least the following ways: - the pool is 1.5kms not 700m from the apartments in the vineyard; this difference proved difficult with young children and their ability to walk particularly along the main road. - The pathways through the forest/bush appeared overgrown and we were advised not to use them due to the children, even though the website pictures thereof were one of the reasons that attracted us to the Fattoria in the first place; Actual furnishings are commensurate with the price being paid. The restaurant is what prevents this from being a 1 out of 5 experience; it is good food, well presented in a friendly and amicable environment and Alessia is a good host in this regard. I would not recommend this play to stay, but would dine there. in my view it is not suitable for children and only suitable at all if a short stay in the main house only. La Rotta is a very basic roadside town and Pontedera with the nearest supermarkets is what i would describe as "light industrial". Positives nearby: Lucca 45mins, Pisa about the same, small villages such as Buti (25mins), Peccioli (20 mins) etc. Everything requires you to drive and although distance-wise one is within reach of Volterra, San G, Florence etc, i would stay further south/east than this anytime.

  Charming place with loving people

  Stayed one night with a friend on our trip around northen Italy. We had a great time - stayed in a charming room and had a excellent dinner in the evening. The service was good, the food great and everyone, staff and visitors included, seemed to have a great time. The antipasta is amazing with a wide amount of choices. I'ts a place worth visiting.

  Lovely food! Lovely people!

  We are frequent visitors to this area of Italy and have been here several times over the years and it never disappoints. The anti-pasta is amazing - great selection and if you want to go back for more it is encouraged. Great variety of homemade breads. Pasta and secondi beautifully cooked. Try the local wine. Individual style and friendly family service always makes this memorable.

  A great find

  Make sure you have your GPS with you. Settle into your room and be prepared for an amazing dinner here. The food was excellent, and the family run personal were so nice and friendly. We were so glad we came across this gem.

  Fantastic farmhouse loved it

  We stayed here while on a business trip we absolutely enjoyed the place and will keep using it while we are in the area as we really enjoyed our stay . From here you can be in Florence in under an hour, Pisa half hour and the sea half an hour. The people that run the place kept it open for us till late when we arrived really enjoyed the whole experience .
